Paul Allen was the co-founder of Microsoft and was an American business man, investor and philanthropist. He died on October 15, 2018 because of his prolonged disease Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. During his lifetime, he has won numerous awards and was also listed in the Time’s list of ‘100 Most Influential People in the world’ in year 2007 and 2008.
Early life
Paul Allen was born on January 21, 1953 in Seattle, Washington, United States to his parents Sam Allen and Edna Faye Allen. His father was an associate director at a library and his mother also worked as a librarian. Paul Allen has attended ‘Lakeside School’ in Seattle. There he befriended Bill Gates and their interest towards computer technology culminated. Late Allen, attended ‘Washington State University’, but he discontinued his studies to start a project in computer line along with his friend Bill Gates.
Career
In year 1975, Paul Allen and Bill Gates together founded Microsoft in New Mexico. Paul Allen named the company as ‘Microsoft’. In 1980, Microsoft developed Disc Operating System and sold it to IBM, the deal made both Gates and Allen rich and famous. During early 1980s, Allen was detected with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and underwent several months of Chemotherapy. Due to his degrading health conditions Allen took himself away from the workings and businesses of Microsoft and resigned from his position on the Board of Directors in 2000. He was still the senior strategy advisor to the company’s executives.In year 1986, Paul Allen founded the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation for the betterment of health and human services - his contribution to the development of science and technology. The foundation donated 30 million US dollars for humanity and scientific projects.
In 1993, Allen bought 80 percent of Ticketmaster by investing 243 million US dollars into it. Ticketmaster got into internet in 1995 by showing searchable database and in 1996 its first transaction on the internet took place. The company was made public in the same year. Paul Allen also purchased a professional sports team—the Seattle Seahawks NFL team—in 1996 and purchased his second team the Portland Trail Blazers NBA for 70 million US dollars from a Californian Larry Weinberg. In 2003, Allen, together with his sister Jo Lynn, founded the Allen Institute for Brain Science and donated 100 million to it. It was a non-profit organization and the data founded in the organization became free and publically available. In 2011, Paul Allen launched the first private space transport system‘Stratolaunch Systems’.

Paul Allen has never married in his life and has never had any children left to survive him after his demise, although he was romantically linked with many. In year 1982, Allen was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma also had many surgeries done, he also had a bone marrow transplant.
In year 2009, Allen was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which was successfully treated but it came back in October 2018, and died because of the suffering on October 15, 2018.
