Early Life
Matt was born on 17th May, 1985 in Exton, Pennsylvania to Bernice and Michael Ryan. He was raised with three more siblings; John, Kate and Michael Ryan. He attended William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and earned All-East honors from Tom Lemming’s Prep Football Report. He turned out to be a football player from young age as he received honors such as ‘All City First Team and second team recognition. He finished up his school career throwing more than 1300 yards with 9 touchdowns as a senior. Later he attended Boston College in 2003.
Career
His career started up in young age as a footballer while playing for the school team. Later he joined Boston College in 2003 and played making his debut in October 2004. In his first match against UMass Minutemen, he went to complete two passes for 16 yards and received the honor of Freshman Male Scholar-Athlete Award. He led the college team to three consecutive bowl victories from 2005 to 2007 and named after him the Manning Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Most Valuable of the MPC Computers Bowl.
Looking forward towards professional career, he was drafted by Atlanta Falcons as the third overall pick in 2008 NFL Draft further making him the fourth highest paid quarterback in the NFL with a contract of $72 million. He got the honor of first rookie quarterback to start a season for the Falcons since 2001. He played well and completed his first NFL pass for a 62-yard touchdown to Michael Jenkins.
