Matt Lauer is New York-born former television news anchor and was famous for making headlines and being the part of NBC’s Today Show as a co-host from 1997 to 2017.
He got ranked on top three in the list of highest-paid TV host following Judy Sheindlin and Ellen DeGeneres when he was on the job.
In November 2017, he was fired by NBC for inappropriate sexual behavior.
Early life
Matt was born on 30th December 1957 in New York City to Jay Robert Lauer and Marilyn Lauer. He owns American nationality and has mixed ethnicity of English, Scottish, Dutch, German and Ashkenazi Jewish.
For education, he attended Ohio University but soon quit in 1979 to purse in journalism internship at WOWK-TV in West Virginia.
He got promoted soon to a new producing spot and then to the on-air reporter in 1980.
Career
Matt started his career by moving on an internship with WOWK-TV in West Virginia. He got chances with various reporting at that time of the year along the East Coast plus hosting the national syndicated PM Magazine, news, and entertainment program from 1980 to 1986.
He moved back to New York and became the host of short-lived shows such as Fame, Fortune & Romance (1986) with Robin Leach, Esquire Show on Lifetime in 1989 and the late-night show Day’s End but received the real praise by co-hosting for the live talk show 9 Broadway Plaza in 1989.
In 1992, he received the offer from NBC to co-host two shows, Live at Five and Today in New York.
This gave him the chance to fill in as a newsreader and co-anchor on Today and was called in as a substitute on Weekend Today and NBC News at Sunrise.
During his tenure at Today, he conducted the number of high-profile interviews with celebrities, politicians, dignitaries and delivered on-location reports from around the world but unfortunately after reviewing a complaint of sexual misconduct NBC News fired Lauer in November 2017.
Personal life
He got married twice. He was in a relationship with Nancy Alspaugh and both got married in 1982 later getting a divorce in 1989.
He then married to Annette Roque in 1998 and is the father of three children; Romy Lauer, Jack Matthew, and Thijs Lauer. Both have begun divorce proceedings in January 2018.
