P1 Wimax Overview
We are talking about a private Malaysian telecommunication company that got founded in February, 2002 and is well known for the branding of Mobile Telephony Services, Mobile Broadband, Fixed Voice, Fiber, SIP Trunking service, Wireless Internet, Leased line and Next SMS. The company is the subsidiary of Green Packet Berhad and has got licensed by the Malaysian government to deploy 4G WiMAX services in the whole country thereby receiving the title of being the first among tough competitors to go for this service in whole country. Telekom Malaysia took over its 57% stakes in P1 in 2014 and now the company has got rebranded in to Webe Digital Sdn. Bhd. Now P1 is maintaining out its WiMAX service whereas Webe is launching out its own mobile with 4G LTE service.
What is P1 WiMAX all about?
This service is present in the whole country running at 2.3 GHz WiMAX spectrum having 802.16e 2005 standard. The service is easily available to people at the reach of 30 miles from the base station and has proved beneficial in wireless broadband. We can say it is
the 4G technology to meet the pent-up demand for the mobile internet, offering significant speed, loads of capacity and value for money. The service is activated with the help of three types of modems as mentioned below;
• P1 W1MAX DS300 Shared Modem
• P1 W1MAX DV230 Shared Modem
• P1 W1MAX DX230 New 3-in-1 Modem
Further the service is also named as WIGGY if provided using the On-the-Go Portable Modem.
What are their offers?
The service is well managed by the company at reasonable prices mentioned below;
• WIGGY 58 package works at 600 kbit/s
• WIGGY 89 package works at 1.5 Mbit/s
• WIGGY 129 package works at 3 Mbit/s
They also jumped in to the prepaid offer with speed up to 10 Mbit/s but didn’t make up to the level. The service is also well operated on embedded devices like Notebooks that are WiMAX ready.
Is company offering 4G?
Yes, the company with over 600+ employees is proving its name in 4G service but it is all myth as IEEE 802.16m is recognised by the ITU not reaching to the advanced networks and need to be commercially deployed. Hence, they are looking for discontinuing the WiMAX service in areas and start for LTE network thus creating a better experience for all the users.
Technology is becoming more advanced and thus they are thinking of providing a prepaid plan with up to 20GB of free LTE internet data and add on plans of up to RM50 for 8GB of internet.
