King Island Amusement Park Overview
King Island is a theme park situated in Ohio, United States. The amusement park was opened on April 29, 1972, by Taft Broadcasting Company. The owner of the theme park is Cedar Fair. The amusement park has a 364-acre area. The slogan of the company theme park is It’s Amazing in here. The park was known as Paramount’s Kings Island from 1993 to 2006. In 2018, the general manager of the theme park is Michael Koontz. The theme park visited by more than 3.47 million visitors making it the second-most visited park in the United States. In 2017, the theme park won Best New Ride award for Mystic Timbers. The King Island won Golden Ticket Awards by Amusement Today from 2001 to 2017 for their Best Kids Area.
History
The construction of the park started on June 15, 1970. The construction company held a competition for naming the theme park. The park opened for public on April 29, 1972. The theme park partnered with Arrow Development for making a unique roller cost. In 1992, the park acquired by Paramount Communications.
