About Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg is working in America as a technology entrepreneur and philanthropist.
He is well known for co-founding and leading the American online social media and social networking service company Facebook.
Mark was born on 14th May 1984 in White Plains, New York as Mark Elliot Zuckerberg to Karen, a psychiatrist and Edward Zuckerberg, a dentist.
He was brought up in a family with three sisters; Randi, Donna, and Arielle. For education, he attended Ardsley High School, Phillips Exeter Academy and Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.
He was in elementary school when he got interested in programming and at the age of 10, he got his first PC Quantex 486DX on the Intel 486. He was then taught Atari BASIC Programming by his father who used to own a dental practice next to the family house.
At the age of 12, he created a messenger using Atari BASIC and named it ZuckNet which in the future became helpful to his father as it was connected to all computers between the house and dental office.
His work also grabbed the attention of Microsoft and AOL as while in high school he developed an artificially intelligent media player Synapse but he rejected the offer given by IT giants.
In 2002, he got admission to Harvard University and soon got to be known on the campus as a software developer for developing programs like CourseMatch and FaceMash. The latter one caused him a bit of trouble as it brought him a disciplinary action.
The actual career of Mark started with the idea of creating a social network for Harvard students which came in the mind of Divya Narendra.
He with Divya and Winklevoss twins decided to start a project named, Harvard Connection.
Alongside, he planned for his own social network and registered it under the domain name TheFacebook.com initially on 4th February 2004.
He partnered with Eduardo Saverin and Darren Moskowitz starting the social service outside Harvard at Columbia University, Stanford and Yale.
The service gained popularity turning out towards the world at a larger platform than the education sector. Mark then seeks investment and received one from the founders of PayPal and Peter Thiel.
In 2005, he looked beyond the horizon to make the service available for the public which turned out to be the epidemic start of Facebook. He even faced lawsuits from his former co-founder friends of Harvard Connection.
In 2012, Facebook went through Initial Public Offering of stock with the majority of shares to Mark. Recently, he got ranked in 10th position on Forbes list of the World’s Most Powerful People in 2016.
He is in a marital relationship with Priscilla Chan since 2012. Both met together at the fraternity party at Harvard and started dating each other in 2003. He is the father of two daughters; Maxima Chan Zuckerberg and August.
It is estimated to be around US$55.0 billion as on November 2018.
