About Guns N’ Roses

We are talking about the 1985 formed American hard rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band is famous for its debut album, Appetite for Destruction (1987) that made it to number one position on Billboard 200 chart selling over 30 million copies worldwide.
Early Life
Gun N’ Roses was formed at the time when pop was dominated by dance music and pop-metal. They brought raw, ugly rock and roll crashing back into the charts. The band was formed by singer Axl Rose, guitarist Tracii Guns, Guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff Mackangan and drummer Robbie Gardner. But the band’s original line-up was finalised when Tracii and Robbie were not able to attend Guns N’ Roses first show which made Axl to call Slash and Stephen Adler for the show.
Career

The band’s first self-produced EP, Live?!*@ like a Suicide was released in 1986 which brought them the contract with Geffen Records and they further released their debut album, Appetite for Destruction in 1987. The album sold over 30 million copies up to date giving three top 10 singles and hit the number one spot on the charts. Their next release was G N’ R Lies in 1988 which made it to number 2 on the music charts. They also got some time onscreen by featuring soundtrack in Welcome to the Jungle and The Dead Pool. The success raised expectations and they got American Music Award in 1989 for Pop/Rock single for Sweet Child O’ Mine.
In 1990s the band came up with new drummer Matt Sorum and keyboardist Dizzy Reed followed by release of albums, Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. Both charted as number 2 and number 1 making it a big hit for the band. Soon all members left the band and Axl was the only sole original member but in 1998 Axl returned back with drummer Josh Freese, bassist Tommy Stinson, guitarist Robin Finck and Paul Huge and keyboardist Dizzy Reed. They next made a release of album, Chinese Democracy in 1999 followed by Live Era 87-93 which was a collection of songs from the original lineup. The band further went through many lineup schedules having the current lineup of Rose, Slash, McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Melissa Reese. They recently did a Not in This Lifetime... Tour that grossed over $562 million by December 2018 turning out to be the second-highest grossing concert tour of all time.
