About its history and start in Indonesia
In 1976, it started its venture in Indonesia by allowing the subsidiaries Mandarin Opto-Media Co, PT Erry Guna, PT Datascrip, PT Samafitro and PT Murti Indah Sentosa to carry out its managing work in the country as they do not have office in Indonesia and is currently working from above mentioned five authorised distributors. It started with selling of cameras, lens and accessories and now has a vast range of products in the list with all activities under the control of Canon Singapore Pte. Ltd. with regional headquarters in South & Southeast Asia.

Initially the main company got started in Japan in 1937 and holds the history of 81 years in the book of experience in the market of imaging and optical products. Takeshi Mitarai, Saburo Uchida, Takeo Maeda and Goro Yoshida together started a company under name Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory with its first camera named as having lens used from Nikkor. However, they managed to manufacture their own camera in 1940 and introduced the field zoom lens changing the world of movie making. Gradually they worked better in the field launching out quite a range among cameras and since then have generated the revenue of ¥3.401 trillion in the financial year of 2016.
