Stuart was born on 24th June, 1986 in Nottingham, England as Stuart Christopher John Broad to Brian Christopher Broad. He was raised in family having a cricket background with his father being the former England opener and at present the ICC match referee. He also has a step mother named Michelle “Miche” Broad and a sister named Gemma . At the young age of 8 he was introduced to cricket playing for Leicestershire representing the team Under-9 followed by his gaming for Egerton Park receiving the Leicestershire Young Cricketers Batsman Award in 1996. Aside from his interest in cricket, he even managed to play hockey being trialled with England national field hockey team before turning 17. He attended Brooke Priory School and Oakham School to complete his education later getting the offer to either go for Leicestershire County Cricket Club or Durham University.

CareerStuart started his cricket domestic career playing first for Leicestershire 2nd XI in 2004 followed by his first class debut against Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence in 2005. His impressive showings brought him the chance to play in T20 match against Pakistan in 2006. He played very well on the series by just loosing a single run to complete his hat-trick. In 2007, he made a record 8th wicket stand of 99 with Bopara in ODI series against India leading the way for England to get a two wicket win. His best ever performance was marked during 2009 Ashes campaign where he fired a warning shot against Aussies at Headingley by blasting 61 off 49 balls and taking 6/91. In 2010, he went to achieve a century at Lords where his 332 run world record stand with Trott helped England to recover and seal the series against Pakistan. He became the regular player from England in each series achieving many success stories like making a hat-trick at Nottingham against India with figures 6-46, getting 11 wickets at score of 7 for 72 against West Indies in 2012. As per records, he at present is the England’s second highest wicket taker in test cricket.
