Rush Limbaugh in full Rush Hudson Limbaugh III is a famous American radio talk show host, who is popular for his controversial political views. He is very much famous among his listeners, for his views on politics and government policies. His talk show ‘The Rush Limbaugh Show’ on airs on ABC Radio Networks; in 2008 his contract was extended up to 2016 for worth $400 million. He is a strong personality and very much outspoken towards his views and intellectuals.
Early life
Rush Limbaugh is 68 years old and was born on January 12, 1951 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, U.S to Rush Hudson Limbaugh Jr. and Mildred Carolyn. Limbaugh belongs to the family of professional lawyers; his father was a lawyer and a fighter pilot. From the very childhood, Rush was attracted towards a career in radio, his father bought him a radio toy. He attended Cape Girardeau, Missouri central high school; he started his amateur radio career early in his school days. He served/worked as a DJ at local station KGMO, which was co-owned by his father. Rush Limbaugh later attended Southeast Missouri State University to pursue his degree studies but soon dropped out to make a mark in radio. He left his native place and relocated to Pennsylvania, there he became a DJ on WIXZ.
Career
Rush Limbaugh started working on radio in 1973, for radio station KQV in Pittsburgh, his show was not much hyped and didn’t do well, he got fired. He kept trying luck hard to make his mark but didn’t receive much success in the next decade. In 1984, he was hired for a talk show at KFBK in Sacramento, it did well and Limbaugh became top radio artist. He then moved back to New York to start show on National radio. He got popular for “The Rush Limbaugh Show” aired on ABC Radio Network, his strong ideologies on the Fairness Doctrine Rule has first started shaping up his career on political views. His show rating kept going high; it has been running since two decades for now. In the year 2008 he signed a contract extension through 2016, worth $400 million. Limbaugh radio career earned him various awards & accolades like: Marconi Radio Award, National Radio Hall of Fame and Hall of Famous Missourians, etc.
Personal Life
Rush Limbaugh has been married four times in his life. Out of which he has been divorced three times and has no child from any of his wedlock. He married Roxy Maxine McNeely (1977-1980), Michelle Sixta (1983-1990), Marta Fitzgerald (1994-2004) and Kathryn Rogers (2010).
During early 2000s, news was circulated in various media houses of Rush Limbaugh’s illegal possession and consumption of drugs oxycodone and hydrocodone. He himself accepted and confessed the same on radio, and also talked about his addiction and the side effects of the same, which is severe back pain.
