About Kyrsten Sinema
Kyrsten Sinema is a young American Politician. She has been elected as the United States Senator in 2018. She succeeded Senator Jeff Flake and became the first woman Senator from Arizona and first bisexual to achieve this position. She has also served as the U.S Representative from Arizona’s 9th congressional 2013.
Early life
Kyrsten Sinema was born July 12, 1976 in Tucson, Arizona, United States to Dan and Marilyn Sinema. She has two siblings, her parents divorced when Kyrsten was young. Kyrsten along with her siblings and mother moved to Florida’s small town named ‘Defuniak Springs’ to live with their step-father. Kyrsten faced lot of struggle and poverty in his childhood days, when her step father lost job, they became homeless, and life became tough for them. Kyrsten Sinema’s education has been completed from ‘Walton High School’ and she attended ‘Brigham Young University’. Later she attended ‘Arizona State University College of Law and obtained J.D degree and later obtained Ph.D degree in justice studies in year 2012.
Career
Kyrsten Sinema began her career as a social worker in ‘Phoenix metropolitan area’s Washington Elementary School District’ from years 1995 to 2002. She then became criminal defense lawyer in year 2006. Kyrsten first ran for Arizona House of Representatives in 2002, she was last in vote count, received only 8% of votes. In year 2010, Sinema won as Arizona Senate from Democratic Party, she defeated Bob Thomas from Republic Party, she won by majority of 65 % votes. From year 2013 to 2019, she became U.S representative for Arizona’s 9th congressional district. When she took office on January 3, 2013, she became only the second Anglo Democrat to represent the Valley of the Sun in over three decades. In September 2017, Sinema announced her candidature for Class I United States Senate seat held by Republican Jeff Flake. Her opponent was Republican Martha Mcsally. Sinema won by majority of votes, and sworn on January 3, 2019.
Personal Life
Kyrsten Sinema was married to her classmate Blake Dain and later divorced him. Being raised up in poverty and belonging from conservative family, she credits he education, teachers, her church to attain this much in his political career and rise above poverty.
She is a supporter of gay rights, and also worked as an advocate for gay rights with congress.
