Early life

Jim Walton was born in Newport, Arkansas, United States on June 7, 1948 to his parents Sam Walton and Helen Walton. He is the third son and the youngest child of his parents after his three siblings which are Rob Walton, Alice Walton and John Walton. He was active as a child and had many hobbies during his teenage days. Jim attended ‘Bentonville High School’ and ‘University of Arkansas’, he did B.A in marketing. After completing his education, Jim joined his father and gained business experience for four year of working at entry level at ‘Walmart’.

Career

Jim Walton started his career by making his own identity and name, which he was successful in doing. He started with working in banking line, and took a job of teller at ‘Bank of Pea ridge’. Soon he became successful and made a name for himself. Later he took a further step towards success and expansion, when together with his father, Jim Walton took over a daily publishing company and named it ‘Community Publishers’ in year 1982. He made the company one of the largest and big names in publishing firms with an operation of 20 newspapers.
Jim Walton also joined Walton owned ‘Arvest bank Group’ and became its CEO and chairman, he helped and took the business spread across 260 locations over 100 communities. In year 2013, Jim Walton also entered in a deal with Bank of America and purchased its 29 locations.
In 2005, Jim Walton joined Walmart and took the position of his brother John Walton, who died in a plane crash. As a member of Walmart’s Board of Directors, Walton also received $242,399 in compensation in 2012
