About Aiden Markram
AK Markram or Aiden Kyle Markram is 24 years old South Africa’s right-handed batsman who plays domestic cricket for Northerns and Titans whereas he has made his international debut in a Test match against Bangladesh on September 2017. He is well known for being the first South African captain to win a World Cup at the age-group level.
AK Markram was born on 4th October 1994 in Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa as Aiden Kyle Markram. He attended the University of Pretoria to complete his education and play for the Northerns club.
He started his cricket career early by playing age-level cricket and holding the position of captaincy in the 2014 U-19 World Cup. This age level game brought him to the limelight as he gave the cup to the country. The same year he made his first-class debut for Northerns against South Western Districts followed by his participation in the 2015 Africa T20 Cup. In 2017, he got his international Test debut against England but missed out getting named as captain of South Africa A cricket team for
tour series against India in August. At the same time on the domestic side, he joined the squad of Nelson Mandela Bay Stars to play in T20 Global League which later got canceled. He again got a chance to play internationally against Bangladesh in Test match in September 2017 where he scored 143 off 186 balls in the second inning. Further, he went for an ODI match against Bangladesh replacing Hashim Amla where he scored 66 runs and took 2 wickets.
Aiden Markram took a record ahead of scoring two centuries in his first three Tests as first South African cricketer in December 2017 whereas next record also came soon of him leading the team as captain in five ODI and T20I series against India in February 2018 and becoming the second-youngest to do so after Graeme Smith. He played his career-best against Australia in a Test match having a score of 152. He made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka on 22nd March 2019 and in the same year, he got selected for the 2019 Cricket World Cup squad.
He is presently unmarried and is in a relationship with Nicole O’Connor.
