Trevi Fountain Rome Overview
Trevi Fountain is an Italian wellspring located in Rome that designed by the popular architect Nicola Salvi. The height of the fountain is 26.3 meters, whereas its width is 49.15 meters. This fountain featured in several films like Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, Three Coins in the fountain, The Lizzie Mcguire Movie, Sabrina Goes to Rome and Roman Holiday. The fountain made from the same material which used in Colosseum. If someone steals coins from the fountain, then it will be treated as a crime.
Trevi Fountain Rome Statistical History
The fountain established between the junctions of three roads in a terminal point of modish Acqua Vergine. The roman techniques also presented on the fountain façade. In 1629, planning made for the renovation of the fountain, but the project failed due to Pope Death. The project was not carry forward, but still, many Bernini touches are present in the fountains. Several competitions heads are designing the fountains in Baroque Era. In 1720, Pope Clement XII arranged a competition which won, Nicola Salvi. In 1732, the construction work began for the fountain.
The Nicola died in 1762 leaving the construction work incomplete. She constructed a barber’s unsightly sign which was called as Ace of Cupe because it represents a Tarot Card. Later four artists were hired to complete the constructions named as Pietro Bracci, Filippo Della Valle, Giovanni Grossi, and Andrea Bergondi. The fountain was officially opened for public on May 22, 1762, by Pope Clement XII. The fountain was reconditioned two times in 1988 and 1998 due to the stain which was caused by smog. The money is used to help needy. In 1973, a Postage Stamp was also issued by the Italian National Postal Service in honor of Trevvi fountain.
