There are more than 1,500 locations of the restaurant chain in different countries in which there are 150,000 employees working making the largest full service restaurant company in the world. Jeffrey Smith is the Chairman of the company whereas Eugene Lee is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Darden Restaurants. The operating income of the company in 2012 was US$ 7.999 billion whereas in the same year, the total assets of the Darden Restaurants were US$ 5.944 billion. History
The restaurant chain was founded in 1938 by Bill Darden as Green Frog when he opened their first location in Waycross, Georgia, United States. In 1968, Bill Darden founded another restaurant chain when they opened Red Lobster Inns of America in Lakeland,
Florida. In 1970, Garden Mills acquires all the restaurants and renamed it as General Mill Restaurants whereas they changed its name to Darden Restaurant in 1995.
