About the show

Patricia Stefanelli says: The Rob Lowe Roast was so very disgusting as it didn't even approach comedy. What people must be thinking to gang up like you did on Ann Coulter. Aren't you all even interested in being seen as sensitive to a single female. The woman who came right out with "I hate her" that took an outstanding amount of hatred and meanness. It is no wonder that you are all second-rate entertainers. I hope this show gets cancelled.

Sharing thoughts about show

Wes Turner says: Hello Comedy Central,

The individual that replaced John Stewart is horrible. I suppose what he is doing is suppose to be comedy. However, it seems more like some political liberal agenda that is far beyond horrible. Yes, I understand I do not have to watch it and well I do not. However, I have seen enough that it makes me sick. This guy has a job that pays as much as it probably does. So that he may spew his and maybe your channels agenda.

Expressing thoughts

mrmrmrmr says: Daily show is worst with example of media propaganda right now and has been since they switched to the election, solely. I hope more people can see past the bullshit and understand who Hillary really is and what she has really done and we are not as dumb as the daily show makes Trump supporters out to be. I obviously know its suppose to be a left-wing show but its completely insulting Trump and his supporters. Also ignoring the facts about Hillary. It is insane and I feel almost insane watching it seeing how obvious the propaganda is. Please tell me I am not alone in this thought. I don't believe there are as many people voting still for Hillary as they want everyone to think. If the pre-polls illustrated Hillary was behind, and then she wins at the end, that would obviously be odd and could raise many questions and suspicions.

Ruby Gallagher says: It makes me sad that The Daily Show doesn't repeat in the morning. Why is that happening? I am also really missing Larry Wilmore. The Nightly Show made me smarter, opened my eyes to concepts which I had never considered.

Lois Padawer says:

Posted on Oct 05, 2016 at 09:47 PM

My husband and I love Trevor Noah, and we are very disappointed that his show is no longer repeated the next day. Jon Stewart, much less funny than Noah, was on twice the following day after a show initially aired. Your lack of support for your excellent new people is disappointing. I can't complain so much about your cancelling Larry Wilmore, although it was disappointing, because I would watch Colbert on channel 2 and so couldn't watch Wilmore.

Noah is so intelligent, with a well-rounded mind. I like Colbert and Seth Meyers, but they are both a bit narrow, apparently not knowing any language other than English, for instance. Noah is multilingual with a broad knowledge of the world.

Christy Dennison says:

The Nightly Show is one of the best shows on TV. Why on God's green earth did it get cancelled? Is it due to not enough viewership. Do you really think that the demographic that you reach doesn't need, dare I say, want to see this show? What is wrong with you researchers? Please do more to access the real people who want to believe in approximate, appropriate and worthwhile efforts for the benefit of society.

My wife and I are extremely disappointed that you no longer air the Daily Show in the morning. We have watched the Nightly Show and Daily Show with delight every morning. Then you dropped the Nighty Show, and now, the Daily show no longer airs in the morning. Why? Comedy Central has certainly lost two devoted morning viewers. Please, show the Daily Show again in the morning.

Comedy Central has turned black. Daily show is typical. Maybe Trevor Noah needs to see what Mandella did to his own country. It may alert him that black folks cannot manage even their own world. Doubt this? Go to Africa. I worked there. Least likely people to ever even manage their own country. Lazy and stupid people. Don't believe me. Africa contains the oldest known civilization known in the world. Civilization began there yet they are last in technology, last in employment and last in education. And have the highest rate of AIDS and all illnessness known to mankind. Yet have huge natural resources with highest level of corruption in the modern world. It is my personal position that blacks in America are in the position that they are in because they created it. They should be treated accordingly and when they decide to become like the rest of Americans they can receive the same benefits of hard working people. Maybe they should look at latinos. Follow what they do. Stay off welfare. It is a start.

Christopher Edwards says:

Posted on Sep 22, 2016 at 08:45 AM

Please tell your black host to remain neutral. It is not the only time, I saw black people or muslims doing wrong. I am shocked at his ridiculous comments and will now stop watching the show. I worked in Africa. I know several South Africans. This guy is sharing personal opinions. Dropping the nightly show was a good thing for Comedy Central as you were becoming a bet type of network. It seems with these comments it is again heading towards the same direction. Want a lower viewing audience? Allow this type of black for only commentary as it is ridiculous.

I can't believe you cancelled the Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. I miss him the very funny, insightful cast and guests. It gave me and others a wide perspective not seen in all of television. I thought Comedy Central provided the most progressive news/comedy show, they ever produced (yes even more so than the Nightly News) and now I am so disappointed with CC. Please bring back the show even in a different incarnation. And, how will I ever really know what is happening with the lackening?

Nell says:

Why drop Larry Wilmore? Best informative show, for what? Its the stupidest show out there. He was hilarious, I watched him nightly Monday to Friday, right after Daily Show. It's where I got my spin on current news and then would move on to Colbert @midnight. I read he was dropped for ratings not being as good as Colbert who left for CBS. Bring him back and why the hell before the elections? May be since he wasn't a Trumpenziee?

My husband and I thought the roast Rob Lowe was very painful. The jokes were not funny, they were insulting, and you can tell from the people on the show they did not like it or enjoy it. I can't believe how many professional people have their hands on this project and it was approved to be on television. I understand insult comedy. I can like Don Rickles and Lisa Lampanelli. In fact I love Lisa Lampanelli. No matter what she says you know she's kidding and she's funny even if it's an insult. Could you please go back to the drawing table and fix this so these types of disasters will not be not be on TV again?

If this is the appropriate place place to comment on the CCentral Roast of Rob Lowe. I Was surfing, paused to check it out, caught some of Rob's 'Jokes' and comments-

Crass, disgusting, stupid, poor taste and this was just a brief stopover! I know it is a roast but what a lack of intelligent (and still respectful) comedy and such a small vocabulary all resorting to such a lack of Truly clever language. Disappointed in Rob. Not as cool as I had possibly thought & again in a brief snapshot!

Turned it Off.

Not sure if you aware but as of last weekend anyone crossing the Canadian U.S. border is now being asked if they have ever smoked pot in their life. If a yes is replied that individual is then banned for life from EVER entering the U.S. Apparently you can't handle the truth an are now asking us to lie to appease your warped sensibilities. I can only imagine what it will be like if a buffoon is in the oval office. Don't piss us off we kicked your ass in 1812 and if we have to burn down the Whitehouse again we are going to bring marshmallows because pot will be legal (and sold by the government in liquor stores) an we are going to have the munchies.

William Eich says:

Having a roast for Rob Lowe but focusing on Ann Coulter by allowing participants to refer to her with filthy, rude comments eliminates any reasonable person from the desire to watch your program. 'Disgusting' doesn't even begin to describe how repulsive this is to your viewers and the arrogance of the progressive liberal who may think this display as being humorous. Anyone associated with this attempt at humor, disguised as entertainment, should truly be ashamed of themselves and banned from ever being televised. Years ago I enjoyed watching roasts but it has become a forum for snarky Hollywood elites making nasty, often politically charged, vile comments under the portent of comedy..

I had attended another Friends Fest on Sunday 28th August 2016 at Bethnal Green which turned out to be a disaster and a near riot - where i had to run to the ticket office to ask for security - My email asked if it was possible to have a refund for 2 x tickets for the one on 1st September as after attending the one on Thursday 31st, i was no longer willing to take my daughter along - i have not heard anything and the only contact number i can find is for the USA - i would appreciate a response as soon as possible - my email address is on the complaint..

For all those lefty using this night to spew their political agenda - not funny- if I want that kind of crap I could Watch cnn, Fox News etc. And what ever happened to the roasters being funny- comedians etc. That was brutal- not funny- very sophomoric.

The Rob Lowe roast was funny because all the jokes aimed at the guests were funny EXCEPT how each one of them treated Ann Colter!! They were extremely rude and disrespectful. It is America and we have freedom to choose. Except the liberal celebrities only believe that to be true ONLY if you agree with them. I was so angry that the audience couldn't get the stick out of their asses long enough to laugh at her jokes. Pete Davidson. You are a total and complete bigot and asshole. My little opinion won't matter to any of you at Comedy Central.

Bring back the Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. Especially now with the insane political climate, the show is necessary to keep balance in a world gone mad. Ratings for ANY show or ANY celebrity in that time slot was destined to lose ratings. As I recall, beloved Jon Stewart left who had less fans than Stephen Colbert, except Stewart was better loved. Then Wilmore is in back to back competition with the Stephen Colbert as host of the Late Show. No one will make it in that slot. Give Wilmore his show back, only move the time of it so all fans get to see Wilmore and Colbert at different times. I miss Wilmore and his entire cast who are all mainstream television crossovers.

I am a 67 year old white man, and am writing to voice my disappointment about the cancellation of Larry Wilmore. I used to watch Stewart and Colbert. After they left, I watched Noah and Wilmore. I did not find any value in watching Noah and stopped watching him after realizing he was not going to get any better. Wilmore on the other end, has proven to be consistently funny, informative, and thought provoking. With the loss of Wilmore, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and John Oliver are my go to shows. Dump Noah and put Wilmore in that format and you will see your ratings rise. As is, I no longer have a reason to watch Comedy Central. A South African talking about the American political arena and process just doesn't ring True.

Larry Wilmore's writing and programming on the Nightly Show were the only reason I watched Comedy Central in the last year. It completely resonated with me. Canceling his show is a mistake! I believed, from his show, Comedy Central was interested in intelligent, creative, and important comedy. Every episode was relevant to contemporary news and reflected the horrors or bizarre happenings from the belly of the beast; it was how comedy needs to be.

Sybil Cramer says:

I've never written on behalf of a tv show before. Now I want to express my regret that yo have taken the Larry Wilmore Nightly show off the air. Perhaps every show did not hit a home run, however, the show provided a greatly needed window for casting light on a number of facets of race in America. In addition, viewers enjoyed the comedy and insights provided by Larry and his team. I echo John Stewart's comments on the last program times 10! I enjoyed the interviews with Bernie Sanders, Lewis Black, etc. Larry helped me see the world from a new angle. Especially when he was able to sit down with the 2 Baltimore rival gang members who declared peace between them and aimed at helping their neighbors during the riots there.

I will miss seeing and hearing Larry, Rory, Mike Yard, Ricky Valez, Holly, Robin, Jordan, Francesca and Grace. I am not a Black person, so hope it's ok to say: I am keep in' it a honed" when I say -- We want to see more of Larry and the other members of this team on other programs. Hopefully, Comedy Central will have a spot for them on a new program! Thanks.

I am very disappointed that the Nightly Show was canceled. I have watched from the start and saw it improve immensely over the 20 months. Let me say I am a 63 year old white woman. The show helped me to be more understanding of the problems faced by people of color. Even though I have always been a progressive and consider myself inclusive I really do not know what it is like to be living in our country as a minority.( except for being a woman!)

I'm very disappointed that you suddenly dropped Larry Wilmore's Nightly Show. Although I did not watch it every night when it was broadcast, I recorded all of his shows and watched them the next day. I believe he offered a unique perspective on both blacks and women that I have not seen elsewhere. Although I am a white 67 year old woman, I still found many of his panel discussions very enlightening. All in all, it was a very clever show that had a lot of talent. The fact that the closing was so abrupt and before he could cover the rest of the election process is strange. It makes one wonder if the performance metrics they the show was to be measured by were not shared with Mr. Wilmore. I know that he will do well as he is very talented. Too bad the same cannot be said for Tosh! However, if that type of programming epitomizes the type of show you want, I guess my days of watching Comedy Central are numbered.

Your cancellation of the Nightly Show was a bad decision that you will come to regret. Larry Wilmore and his crew were an honest, accurate voice for more than the black community. It was reaching all progressives of every race, and if it were allowed to continue, would have snow balled into one of the most important shows in TV history.

It is difficult for me to understand why you so abruptly canceled The Nightly Show. I heard because it didn’t resonate with your audience or demographic. That may be, but it is the only program in our family that is both watched and discussed by my 17 and 20 year old sons (plus a bunch of their friends), 50 year old wife, myself (60 years) and my wife’s father (76) and stepmom (75), plus a bunch of our family members including a couple of farmers in South Dakota (late 70’s). It’s kind of a wide demographic, but probably one that you don’t count and obviously don’t care about. You had a thoughtful, insightful and funny show on. We’ll miss it. You are making a big mistake canceling it. And the way you did it was absolutely terrible. A shame that Comedy Central has as much class and sensitivity as Donald Trump. Been taking lessons from him?

I just found out you are canceling the nightly show. I was real upset when Jon Stewart left the daily show then the Colbert show was gone and now your getting rid of the nightly show why? It's hard enough finding comedy shows that have a bases in honest politics as it is. When you get rid of shows like this which, is how most young people start getting interested in the world around them and politics it really is such a shame at least daily show and the nightly does research into their news items which is more then you can say of bloggers. I hope with all my heart that when the show is replaced you at least try to stick to something Jon Stewart and Larry Wilmer would be proud of.

He is the best of all the comedians on comedy central! Did your advertisers object to his truth telling black satire? If so, comedy central is biased for not standing for Wilmore and his team. Why not schedule him earlier or later? I will not watch comedy central any more. He is funnier and smarter than Trevor Noah (who is getting better and more real and Trevor is no Jon Stewart or Larry Wilmore!

I am so sad that you cancelled Larry Wilmore. Larry is entertaining, funny and has hosted some really insightful communication on race. As a middle aged white women the show has certainly improved my understanding of the challenges black people face. I hope he can do this show on another network someday.

Quit recording Trevor about 6 months ago. boring. Now Larry is being cancelled. He was a little too pro-Bernie for our tastes, but I.can guarantee you that we won't be recording Chris Hardwick. Bye, bye Comedy Central.

I am very disappointed that "The Nightly Show" with Larry Wilmore has been canceled. It was current, smartly written, and offered "diverse" perspectives. The cast was top notch. It kept getting better. I think a mistake was made. I am not of the preferred dempgraphic, however I really enjoyed this program. Why can't I employ the letter after "t" in writing this comment?

I am very disappointed at the cancellation of the brilliant Larry Wilmore. He was against a pretty tough lineup--Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, and Conan. Please find another spot for him, maybe even primetime!

I'm very disappointed in comedy central for cancelling Larry Wilmore’s amazing show. It covered topics thoroughly and with good humor that needs to be addressed. Shame on you for not giving him more of a chance; at least let him see the election cycle through.

Will only be watching Trevor Noah, never that garbage show that is replacing Wilmore! Canceling Wilmore is one of the most incredibly stupid moves I've seen a cable network make in a very long time! We need more shows like his! It was developing incredible new talent and everyone I know loves it. It's one of those shows that may not have high ratings yet has a highly loyal fan base be smart - grow it!!!

Dear comedy central
Nonononononononono! Larry Gilmore is the only late-night comic that I watch, and I’m a white west-coasty middle-age here in rabid fan-land, middle-aged mom type. His show was honest, current, and incisive. The cost jester tells the truth that no-one likes to hear. His ratings may have been low, but his followers are passionate and his cultural influence is deep- he made the correspondents' dinner address for a reason - he's a modern prophet. Please do not cancel his show _ cancel the cancellation with love and peace from rabid fan-land.

tried to contact you on email guess what, someone wanted to charge me $3.95, guess what else , my letter phonetically "you" does not work in this space. Pushing forward, the cancellation of the Larry Wilmore show. You keep Trevor Howard and silence the most intelligent voice on late night tv. Yes, Stephen Colbert included.. Remember, for some strange reason my "you" does not work on this page. I had Republicans in Texas listening to Larry and Mike Yard.

I wish my "you" worked.. It works on every other page. Notice, my name is unique in the continental S as far as I know..

I am devastated that "The Nightly Show" was cancelled. It was an intelligent and often informative comedy show. I cannot believe it was considered to "not resonate". I am a sixty year old boomer and loved the window into the lives of the millennials and others I do not interact with daily. Please rethink this decision. I do not watch "The Daily Show" daily yet I did Larry Wilmore's show. Mike Yard, Rory Albanese and the rest of the cast were stellar. I think I'll go to bed now. Nothing to stay awake for.

Please see the racist comments below to know that the nightly show with Larry Wilmore is really important!!! As a white person who is against racism and also knows that democracy needs the debating of ideas to exist and grow, Larry Wilmore’s show is vital to America’s well being so please kept it on air!!!

Everyone's talking about conversation--all the issues we're should be talking about. Wilmore's Nightly Show was the only place where the race conversation was always on, in an honest, non-confrontational accessible way. My husband and I, both 70+ and white, watched it every night. We will miss it, and I think Comedy Central is doing the country a disservice by canceling it.

Roberta says:

Very disappointed that you are cancelling your best show. I never miss a The Nightly Show. It is intelligent, entertaining, & enlightening. I like the Daily Show, but I love the Nightly Show. Larry Wilmore, his cast, & writers will be missed. Mike Yard is my favorite. Just read some of the other comments. I'm saddened by the racism expressed in some of them. I'm saddened by the fact that in this day there are still so many white guys think who things are unfair if they don't get everything. Proof we need the Nightly Show now more than ever.

FYI - I'm an old white woman.

What?! Larry Wilmore canceled? We are in shock and so sad to hear.
I am a white, 70-year-old, independent, middle class female who looks forward to Larry’s intelligent and gentle perspective. His for (do you know the you key isn't working in this form?)M was interesting and funny. I was especially disappointed that we would not follow the blackening through elections. You don't even have an announcement on his show page on the cc website!!

I'm extremely disappointed about the cancellation of the Larry Wilmore Show. His material is hard-hitting, accurate, and clever. I am white and think this makes the network appear to have a racial issue. Dropping him is a mistake, as he will go on to something better. He's too good not to and just developing a strong voice. It makes me want to cancel subscription to your network.

I learned to like Trevor Noah. I believe Larry Wilmore needs a little more time please. He is very smart with his comedy. Yes he leans towards the black problems in America. I'm as Lilly white as I can get, he makes sense. His staff is awesome. Incognegro was freaking keeping it 100.please give him another short season. I believe all those years with the best that ever was Jon Stewart has earned him 1 more shot. Thanks’ David a.

I am heartbroken to learn that CC has cancelled The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore! The Nightly Show provides thoughtful insight into the day's events with wit and a wry sense of humor looking through a different lens than can be found anywhere else on television. The panel discussions at the end of each show allowed non-mainstream voices to be heard and provided the varied perspectives and deeper, richer discussion of race relations that is needed to break down the artificial barriers that propagate hated and discrimination.

I hope that another network has the good sense to continue this show. Thank you to the writers, contributors, and Larry Wilmore himself for orchestrating this valuable contribution to our national dialogue.

It amazes and bewilders me that comedy central can cancel Larry Wilmore and retain @midnight - even move @midnight into the nightly show time Slot. I have tried and tried and tried to watch @midnight and have always had to switch it off. I am a member of the profession and I have never
Even smiled at this program. It is totally devoid of wit. I find it embarrassing to watch all these really second and third rate comedians acting as If they are - can be - clever with no material. In fact, they are totally boring and witless.
It is hard for me to believe that this show has a following; it is not worth the time.

I am so disappointed that the Nightly Show has been cancelled. It was by-far my favorite late night talk show. Thanks to subscription TV I am able to watch them all: Colbert, Kimmel, Seth, Noah and Fallon, but Larry Wilmore is the best of all of them. Sorry to hear that this show didn't get the ratings it needed from its "target audience". I guess I've outgrown Comedy Central if all you care about are your younger viewers. As far as I was concerned it was Larry who was Jon Stewart's successor, not Noah. Now the most intelligent of this generation of late-nighters is gone. All I can hope for is that Seth keeps up the good work...

Canceling the nightly show with Larry Wilmore has to be among the worst decisions you have ever made. Not everything should be guided purely by business interests, Quality an societal importance should count also. I possibly will never watch Comedy Central again after this Thursday. Used to be among my favorite networks. Now, to quote a show that apparently has ratings you can live with, you can suck my balls!

I'm disappointed that you cancelled Larry Wilmore's Nightly Show!! I'm a 56 year old white woman and loved his show. My husband, a 60 year old white man, is also disappointed in your decision. What will replace Wilmore's show? Don't replace Trevor Noah either! We love him too. I read online that may happen. Do things to change and improve shows and promote them more for viewership. I am saddened to see the cancellation of Larry Wilmore’s show because it purportedly did not "resonate." I hope Larry and his team recognize that the failure reflects more on the slow evolution of our culture and not on the acuity of his show. The show was excellent and often brilliant.

Huge mistake to cancel "The Nightly Show". As a white woman, baby boomer, I was introduced to issues of which I had little to zero knowledge. Issues that only a black American could highlight & discuss intelligently...which Larry did so well. His voice is NEEDED esp in this political climate. Ok, I admit the round table discussions weren't always the best, but that was a minor point/part of a very impactful show. Please reconsider & keep "The Nightly Show".

Hello, what happened with the Nightly Show? This is the balance the show has been talking about. Larry just did the White House, and now as the White House is changing, CC has decided to get rid of a show that adds to the void that the regular news channels do not. I thought that was what Jon Stewart was building all these years, another point of view, with intelligent information in between the stories. This will leave a void in my appreciation of CC..
