About Wiaan Mulder
PWA Mulder or Pieter Willem Adriaan Mulder is 21 years old South Africa’s right-handed batsman and right-arm medium bowler. He currently plays domestic cricket for Highveld Lions and Gauteng whereas his international debut came against Bangladesh in ODI match in October 2017.
PWA Mulder was born on 19th February 1998 in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa as Pieter Willem Adriaan Mulder to Pieter and Adrie Mulder.
In family, he was raised with his younger brother Juan. Both used to play cricket on a pitch made by his father in the backyard with a net and a bowling machine. He completed his education attending St Stithians College where he started learning the game and playing in all underage level matches starting from Under-13 for Gauteng.
He started his career in the world of cricket by getting scouted into youth cricket in his teens. He was in school when he got his first-class debut against Cape Cobras in the 2016-17 Sunfoil Series playing in the side of Highveld Lions.
He went for seven wickets in the
whole series. He rose quickly in ranks by playing 13 matches in over two seasons for the Lions and scoring 695 runs at 49.6 with two hundred and two fifties to go along with 40 wickets at 22.67 apiece and further impressing his selectors for getting a chance in 2016 U-19 World Cup.
His next move came up with his inning in the Twenty20 debut in 2016-17 CSA T20 Challenge followed by List A debut in 2016-17 Momentum One Day Cup.
This was also the year that marked his international debut in ODI match against Bangladesh in October 2017 at age 18 as a replacement for the injured Wayne Parnell.
He scored a single-digit score with just one wicket that left him out of the team. But he still got offers in Test series against Australia, T20I against Sri Lanka and Pakistan which he didn’t play. Aside he made his entry in Gauteng’s squad playing in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup.
Finally, his Test debut came in February 2019 against Sri Lanka followed by signing a deal with Kent club for the 2019 County Championship in England.
