Amy Klobuchar is a 59 years old, American politician and lawyer. She was elected as the U.S Senate in 2006 representing Minnesota and holding that position since then. She is from Democratic Party and was the first woman to be elected to serve the state.
Amy Klobuchar was born on May 25, 1960 in Plymouth, Minnesota to parents Rose Katherine and James John ‘Jim’ Klobuchar. She has one sibling, her parents divorced when Amy was 15 years old. His father was alcoholic and has issue with Amy, which took a toll at her mind in her younger days. Amy Klobuchar attended Wayzata High School, a public school in Plymouth where she was the valedictorian of her graduating class. After high school, she enrolled at Yale University where she bagged a B.A degree in political science in the year 1982. Later on she joined University of Chicago Law School and in year 1985, she obtained a J.D degree.
After completing her law education, Amy did law practice as a partner at Dorsey & Whitney and Gray Plant Mooty law firms. In year 1998, she
became the Hennepin County attorney and got reelected in year 2002.
Amy Klobuchar took the first stepping stone in politics when she contested for Minnesota senate seat. She was the favourite among people and defeated all other four contestants to emerge as the first woman to be elected to the U.S Senate from Minnesota. During her tenure, Amy has remained most vocal for her political positions on issues like gun control, human trafficking, cannabis, and crime control.
Talking about Amy Klobuchar’s personal life, The Minnesota senator is married to John Bessler since 1993, they together share a daughter, which they named as Abigail Klobuchar Bessler.
The marriage between them is going still very strong; they both are also members of United Church of Christ.
Apart from politics, Klobuchar is occasional writer, she has written two books, Uncovering the Dome and The Senator next door.
