About Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a well-known Indian international cricketer. He is a batsman and wicketkeeper also. Known by many nicknames, like captain cool, Maahi etc, he has also captained the Indian cricket team from the years 2007 to 2016. He is also regarded as the all-time match finisher with a victory. He also led the Indian team to win the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
In Indian Premier League, he plays for Chennai Super Kings team.
Early life
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand, which was then in Bihar, India. He was born on July 7, 1981. His father, Pan Singh, is retired employee of MECON (a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Steel), where he worked in junior management positions. His mother Devaki Devi is a housewife. Dhoni attended DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Dhoni was attracted towards football first; he was the goalkeeper of his school football team. But once he played as wicket keeper in a match in a local club of cricket. He astonished everyone with his
performance and secured a permanent spot as the regular wicket keeper in the Commando cricket club team for three years during 1995-98.
Career
M.S Dhoni initially used to play school and club level only, he was first notices when he played for CCL team in year 1998. During years 1999 to 2000, Doni got selected in Ranji Trophy, he also worked as T.T alongside his budding career, as coming from middle class family, and he didn’t have many funds to kick start his cricketing career. In year 2001, Dhoni was selected to play the Duleep Trophy for the East Zone; however, Bihar Cricket Association could not communicate this information to Dhoni in time, as he was located in Midnapore. He learnt this at a time when his team had already reached Agartala, the venue for the match. Talking about Dhoni’s International debut, he was selected national ODI team for India's tour of Bangladesh in 2004-05. His test debut was happened on December 2, 2005. Dhoni kept showing his great performances, and later on he was handed over with the captaincy. He also led the Indian team to the ICC World Twenty20 trophy in South Africa and won the trophy, defeating the Pakistani team. Dhoni led India to victory in the 2011 World Cup. In the final match against Sri Lanka, he promoted himself up the batting order and played a match winning knock of 91 not out. In Indian Premier Dhoni plays for Chennai Super Kings.
Personal Life
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is married to his wife Sakshi Singh Rawat Dhoni. They tied the sacred knot of love and commitment on July 4, 2010 after briefly dating for almost 2.5 years; they met at Taj Bengal, where she worked as an intern after completing her graduation in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad. Although, the two knew each other during their childhood years as their fathers were colleagues at MECON and they both attended the same school, she was seven years younger to him.
They both welcomed their first child, their daughter on February 6, 2015 and named her Ziva.
His biopic was also on September 30, 2016, the film ‘M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story’.
