Joseph Safra was born on December 1st, 1939 in the place named ‘Aleppo’ in Syria. Safra grew up in Lebanon. He is the son of Jacob Safraand Esther Safraand his brothers are Edmond Safra and MoiseSafra. Not much known about his education and college aspects. He was relocated to Brazil in early 1950s, along with his family. Jospeh Safra founded and established ‘BancoSafra’ in year 1955 and later it became the 6th largest bank of Brazil.
Career
Joseph Safra belongs to a family, who was already in banking business. Joseph started his independent business and career in banking line, when he founded ‘BancoSafra’, it became the largest bank in the Brazil in the decade of 1960s.
At present Joseph is the chairman of all Safra Companies, which includes Fibria Cellulose, Chiquita, Safra Group which has BanckSafra, Safra National bank of New York and J. Safra Sarasin.
In year 2016, Joseph Safra, world’s richest banker was charged with corruption charges. He was held with bribing tax officials; the charges were evident because of telephone conversations between BancoSafra top executives and several tax officials.
