Henry Sy was a Chinese Filipino business magnate and philanthropist. He was best known as the founder of SM Investments, which became the largest conglomerate in Philippines. SM Investments also owns the second largest bank in the Philippines which is Banco De Oro. Henry SY dies recently on January 19, 2019, he was ranked 53rd richest person in the world at the time of his death.
Early life
Henry t. Sy was born in Jinjiang, Quanzhou, China on October 15, 1924. Sy was born in a poor family, to parents Henry H. Sy and Tan O. Sia. Talking about his education, he attended Chiang Kai Shek College for his secondary education. Later he earned arts degree in commercial studies from Far Eastern University in year 1950.

Henry Sy, is well known for turning up a shoe business into a huge conglomerate SM Investments, he started doing business along with his father in a convenience store, later he saved his hard earned money and opened his first footwear shop and he later tried his hands in banking sector, He had helped reorganize and strengthen
bank organizations, especially their main bank, Banco De Oro, which was mid-sized back in the day. The Sy group is currently the operator of Banco de Oro and is the owner of Chinabank.

Personal Life and death
Talking about Henry Sy’s personal life, He married a show lace vendor Felicidad Tan. They couple together had six children Elizabeth, Henry Jr., Hans, Herbert, Teresita and Harley.
Henry Sy was found dead in home in Forbes Park, Makati, the reason of his death was his old age, and he died in his sleep at the age of 94 on January 19, 2019.
