About Dwaine Pretorius
D Pretorius or Dwaine Pretorius is 30 years old South Africa’s right-arm medium-fast bowler and right-handed batsman. He plays domestic matches for Highveld Lions and went for an international debut in an ODI match against Ireland on 25th September 2016. Recently, he was selected for the 2019 Cricket World Cup squad.
D Pretorius was born on 29th March 1989 in Randfontein, Transvaal Province, South Africa as Dwaine Pretorius. He started his cricket career being in a squad of South Africa’s under-19 2008 World Cup where he didn’t make participation as he tore a cartilage in his right knee. He later didn’t think of being in the sports profession and completed his accounting degree from Hoerskool Rustenburg. But after studies, he decided to try his luck and moved on to start with cricket again.
Dwaine Pretorius Career
He started his cricket career with North-West provincial side in the 2010-11 season going for the final game of the season where he scored 53 and took 5 for 38 thus making it to the next season of the club. In
2011-12, he got the chance to receive the T20 Amateur Cricketer of the Year title further getting included with Lions in 2012 Champions League T20. But unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the game as he got his knee flared up again which required surgery.
On his return to the game, he decided to keep his bowling pace and speed in the limit to 140+ and got the contract for the 2014-15 season. This season came successfully with the title of South African Cricketer’s Association’s MVP in 2015 followed by entry in the quadrangular competition in Australia playing with South Africa A squad. Next season was his international debut in ODI match against Ireland followed by ODI series against Australia that he got into at the chance of Chris Morris being injured. He was again called for Test series to Australia after Dale Steyn broke his shoulder in November 2016. In 2017, he got his international T20 match against England whereas on the domestic side he got to play in the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament playing from the side of Jozi Stars followed by receiving the contract with Northamptonshire to play in 2019 t20 Blast tournament in April 2019. At the same time, he got his entrance in the 2019 Cricket World Cup squad.
He is in a marital relationship with Zilma Pretorius and is the father of one child.
