Conor McGregor is an Irish mixed martial artist and boxer. He competed for featherweight, lightweight, welterweight (MMA) and light middleweight in boxing. He has claimed Ultimate Fighting Championship’s featherweight and lightweight titles many times and became an all-round boxing star.
Early life
Conor Anthony McGregor was born in Crumlin Dublin, Ireland on July 14, 1988 to his parents Tony and Margaret McGregor. He has two siblings, two sisters Erine& Aoife. Being born and brought up in Crumlin, he started taking training of boxing in his childhood from Crumlin boxing Club. He also has a passion towards famous sport Football. At the age 18, he along with his family re-located to Lucan, Dublin. Before making a name in boxing and martial art, he worked as a plumber. He has done professional plumbing apprenticeship in Lucan only.
Career
Conor McGregor has begun his professional career in February 2007 in MMA for Irish Ring of Truth in Dublin. He has taken training from John Kavanagh. In 2008, he fought his first professional bout against Gary Morris, where he emerged as a winner. His next fight was fought with Mo Taylor when he again won. He fought his first featherweight fight against ArtemijSitenkov, but didn’t win. He afterwards did many featherweight fights but soon shifted to lightweight format of boxing, in 2011-12, he won CWFC Featherweight & Lightweight championships which made him the first European professional MMA to hold titles in two divisions simultaneously. In 2013, McGregor signed multi fight contract with UFC, in his debut, he won against Marcus Brimage, which earned him ‘Knockout of the night award’. During one of his UFC fight against Max Holloway, he injured his ligament, and didn’t come in ring for near about 11 months. He returned in 2014 and won against Diego Brandao and earned the accolade of ‘Performance of night award’. In 2014, Conor also signed his second contract with UFC. McGregor kept fighting and winning against many fighters some of them are, Dustin Poirier, Dennis Silver, Chad Mendes etc., his fight has number of spectators.
Personal Life
Conor McGregor has been in long term romantic relationship with Dee Davlin. The pair welcomed their first child on May 5, 2017 named Conor Jack McGregor Junior. This rising star of boxing is also a supporter of LGBT Community and supports same sex marriage.
Conor McGregor does not support pre fight rituals any other kind of superstitions, as he believes them to be form of fear.
