Montreal Transit Corp STM Overview
Montreal Transit Corp is a Canadian organization that operates the underground rapid transit system in the Montreal city, Quebec.
The complete system is controlled by the Societe de Transport de Montreal, which is a Canadian transportation agency.
The Montreal Transit Corp STM’s rapid line is the main source of transport in the city.
This system gets its inspiration from the Paris Metro. As of September 2018 records, the yearly ridership of this network is more than 356 million.
This service was started on 14th October 1966 and now it has become Canada’s busiest ridership.
In North America, it is only behind Mexico City and New York City.
Network
There are four lines in the complete network that the riders can identify with their respective colors like Green, Yellow, Blue, and Orange. We will give you detail about each of them below:
• Orange- The total length of this line is 30 KM, and it covers 31 stations beginning from Cote-Vertu and ends at Montmorency. The riders get the train after every 3-4 minutes on this network.
• Green- It begins from Angrignon and ends up at Honore-Beaugrand covering 27 stations and 22 KM area.
• Blue- This network starts from Snowdon area and reaches to the Saint-Michel covering more than ten stations and 9 KM of the area.
• Yellow- It is the smallest line that covers only 4.25 KM of the area and three stations. This line opened in 1967 and end up at Longueuil Station.
