History
In 1968, the company was established by Lloyd Jaye Bontrager. The founder inducted into the hall of fame because of the influence in the RV industry. He was a pioneer in the creation of various types of unique filters.
In 1987, he first developed a trailer fold-down system. He began his business of creating travel trailers in two chicken houses.
Within the first year, they sold more than 132 trailers. At that time, they had only 132 employees.
In, 1969, the firm moved to a new factory location whereas later
they built a new manufacturing plant in Harper, Kansas. The company sold more than 2,000 fold-down trailers in the United States and Canada.
The company is a subsidiary of Thor Industries, but still, managed by Bontrager Family. Their logo is a blue jay.
The company’s products are sold by more than 300 dealers in the United States. In 2016 July, the RV manufacturer company was acquired by Thor Industries for $576 million.
Travel Club
The company also created a special travel club which is known as Jayco Travel Club. There are more than 100 chapters available in the United States and Canada.
The chapters are known as Flights which refers to the blue jay. Blue Jay is the official logo of the company.
