The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vodafone Group, which is a British multinational telecommunications company. When it comes to the number of active subscribers, the company is the largest mobile phone operator. The company was founded in 1984 as Eircell, but get rebranded as Vodafone Ireland Limited on 8 May 2001 when it was acquired by the Vodafone group.
