Tricare
Tricare is an America’s popular well-known program through which government offers health benefits to the military personnel and military retirees. It was previously known as the name of Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services. This program is a civilian care part of the American military health system and operated by the Defense Health Agency since October 2013. Prior to that, it was managed by the Assistant Secretary of Defense.
It is administrated by the US Department of Defense Military Health System. In order to offer claims processing and other related administrative functions, the management activity of the program contracts with lots of large health insurance companies.

There are many types of options available under the Tricare program that is named as Tricare Standard, Tricare Prime, Tricare Extra, Tricare Reserve Select, Tricare Reserve Retired, Tricare for Life, Tricare Supplement and Tricare Young Adult.

It was established on 1 October 2013. The Director of US Navy work as the executive of the Defense Health Agency. The main functions of the agency include implementation of shared services with general outcome measurement and allow faster adoption of proven practices.

In addition, they assist in minimizing the unwanted variation and make the coordination of care better throughout time and treatment venues. The agency came under the authority of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs.
