We are talking about America’s publicly owned company that is dealing with insurance and financial services since 1853. The company is considered as the second and third-largest in the United States to serve people in commercial property-casualty and personal insurance.
According to the financial report of the year 2017, the company has incurred the net income of US$2.056 billion and has generated a revenue of US$28.902 billion. Recently, it was also listed on 106 ranks among the Fortune 500 Largest United States corporations in 2018.
When it got started?
The company originally came into existence in March 1853 as St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co. to relief people from the difficulty they were facing to get their claim payments from insurance companies on time in the east coast of United States.
The company finally got recognized after the panic of 1857 and focused on expansion across the country. They further acquired USF&G raising their value in the market from 13th to 8th position. Soon James G. Batterson founded Travelers in
1864 working for railroad travelers to get efficient and effective automobile policy, travel insurance, commercial airline policy and policy for space travel. Even the company brought forward the first organization to predict the weather.
In the 1990s, the company went through various mergers and acquisitions under the name The Travelers Group which later came under Citicorp to form Citigroup. This merger didn’t go well and the Travelers got sold to MetLife in 2002. In 2004, the St. Paul and Travelers performed a merge finally getting their company named fixed as The Travelers Companies in 2007.
Further, the company acquired Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company in 2013 followed by acquiring majority interests in a joint venture with J. Malucelli in Brazil in 2015 getting finally focused on property, general liability, construction, and financial insurance products.
Now they are doing business in the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, China, Ireland, Brazil, and Canada through its subsidiaries and with over 14,000 independent brokers and agents.

They are working on the main motto of offering services to customers through their three segments that include Business insurance, personal insurance and bond, and specialty insurance.
