Shopko
Shopko is a privately owned multi-department retailer store of America that was founded in 1962 and is headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
They mainly deal with the supply of goods and services ranging from apparel to furniture.
They are the first of its kind drugstore featuring drive-thru pharmacies, health and beauty aids, cosmetics, fitness products, convenience foods, over the counter medications as well as also involved in general merchandise.
Peter McMahon is serving as the CEO of the company taking control of 18,000 employees. The company has shown a report of US$ 3.25 billion as revenue in 2016.
About its start
The idea of opening the first store of Shopko was given by a Chicago pharmacist James Ruben in 1962.
His efforts made the store one among its first type to deal with pharmacy. He finally decided to merge with Roman Denissen to expand the store on the departmental level.
Later from 1991 to 2005 it was traded publicly in the New York Stock Exchange and then was acquired by the now owner Sun Capital Partners reversing into private entity soon.
Where they operate and what they offer?
Shopko Stores Operating Co., LLC has the access to over 363 stores in 24 states throughout the Central, Western and Pacific Northwest region.
In retail format, they have looked upon pharmacy and optical services with quality name brand merchandise in around 131 stores with an aim to meet the needs of smaller communities.
They also have subsidiaries like Shopko Express (a chain of pharmacy), Shopko Hometown (deal with smaller communities), Payless ShoeSource (A shoe chain) and aside from this they have access to private labeled brands like Willow Bay, NorthCrest, Energy Zone, Green Soda, Bailey’s Point, Soft Sensation and Peanut & Ollie.
On the matter of distribution, they have joined hands with a subsidiary of Metro Supply Chain group named Spectrum America Supply Chain Solutions in 2016 further having distribution centers in Omaha, Nebraska, De Pere, Wisconsin and Boise, Idaho.

They have recently put forth the effort to enhance online shopping at their e-commerce site by making changes in layout, design, and navigation with updated search capabilities, quality, value and service aiming to deliver satisfaction to their customers.
