How it got started?
The company was founded by Fritz Wiktor Hasselblad in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1841. Soon, his son Arvid Hasselbald who was keen towards improving photographic techniques started the division of it in the company. The company saw the real boom of success after turning into the sole Swedish distributor of Eastman’s Kodak products in 1888. The ownership was passed on in family to Victor Hasselbald who later got separated in 1937 and started his own lab in Gothenburg in 1940 and worked for Swedish government to develop aerial camera during World War. Once war got ended, the company focused on making consumer cameras and introduced first of this type in 1948 under name Hasselbald 1600F. They then worked on refining their technology with improved features and is now included among the
giant manufacturers of the world.
It is a global brand with offices in London, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Hamburg and Copenhagen with distributors all across the world. In financial year, 2011 the company generated the revenue of SEK290 million working with 210 employees.

They have worked on their latest product which is a medium-format mirrorless camera under name X1D as got announced in 2016. This camera will be available in market in total of nine XCD lenses by the end of 2018.
