Chongqing Metro
The Chongqing Metro is one of the most popular rapid transit systems in China. It has been in operation since 2005 in the city of Chongqing. The owner of this transit system is Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Ltd. Presently, they serve in the Chongqing urban area. As of 2017 records, the daily ridership of this system stays at an average of 2.5 million whereas their annual ridership in that year was near 750 million. The headquarters of this organization located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing. This transit system officially opened for the public on 18th June 2005.
The rolling system of the network is manufactured by the companies like CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles and CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock. On the other hand, their signal systems are crafted by the manufacturers like The Nippon Signal, Traffic Control Technology, Siemens, China Academy of Railway Sciences, and United Mechanical & Electrical.
Fare System
There are two types of fares in this rapid transit system that we have explained below:
• Single-Fare Journey- In this type of fare, the price can range from anywhere between US$ 0.3 to US$ 1.04 according to the distance. On the other hand, the days pass costs US$ 2.66.
• Transport Cards- There is a Life & Transport Card accepted by this transit company. Also, they accept other cards that are compatible and release by other partner organizations in other Chinese cities. If utilized on the city’s public transit then there will be a 10% discount offered to the normal card. These regular cards can be bought at all the CRT stations. Along with fares, these cards also work in lots of shops, restaurants, cinemas, and many more.
