3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Introdution
The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing acts as the main aviation unit of the Marine Corps in the United States. The main headquarters of this wing is situated in Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, United States. They consist of four flying groups, an aviation engineering group, an aviation command & control group, and a headquarters squadron. There are four bases of this agency that include Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, and Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms. In addition to that, they also own subordinate units, such as Marine Aircraft Group 11, Marine Aircraft Group 16, Marine Aircraft Group 13, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 3 and Marine Air Control Group 38.
3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Operations
The main motive of this wing to offer make sure the aviation forces remain ready for dealing with short notice global deployment to the unified commanders, Marine Air-Ground Fleet and Fore. General James F. Amos is one of the most notable commands of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
It was started on 10 November 1942 on the 167th anniversary of the Marine Corps. At that time, it consist of 25 enlisted men, one aircraft trainer and 13 officers. However, this commission was demolished on 21st April 1944. It was rebuilt after a period of almost eight years on 1 February 1952. The motto of the agency is “Prepared in Peace and War”.
