We are talking about a Los Angeles based American rock band known for their rock, country rock, Soft rock and folk rock genre of music. They came into existence in 1971 and hold six Grammy Awards and five American Music Awards for their five number one singles and six number one albums.
Early Life
The band was formed by four Los Angeles based musicians; Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon and Don Henley who migrated to West Coast from other parts of the country. All four signed a contract with manager David Geffen in September 1971 to record under label Asylum Records which was later changed to The Eagles.
Career
The band recorded their debut album Eagles in England with producer Glyn Johns making a release in June. The album reached Top 20 going gold with two top ten hits- “Take It Easy” and “Witchy Women”. Their second album was Desperado which was released in 1973 and that made it to Top 40. They then introduced a new member in their band, Don Felder further making a release of album On the Border in 1974. It went gold and reached top ten thus turning out to be the fastest selling album. They have released in total seven studio albums, two live albums, 10 compilation albums and 30 singles with three video albums. They are the best-selling popular music artists in history with their highest selling studio album, Hotel California released in 1976. They are the achievers of six Grammy Awards selling over 150 million records.
Band was even disbanded in July 1980 but soon was reunited in 1994. The band also made a documentary History of the Eagles in 2013 but on death of one of its founder Glenn Frey in January 2016 it was announced by Henley that band will not perform again. But still they turned out to be active giving performances with guest musicians Deacon Frey and Vince Gill in 2017 thus reviving the band. Recently the group’s entire discography was boxed up as the legacy set.
