Early Life of Thomas KwokThomas was born on 6th October, 1951 in Portuguese Macau to Kwong Siu-Hing and Kwok Tak Seng. He is the second son of family with two more brothers named Walter and Raymond Kwok. He completed his education from Imperial College London, University of London majoring in civil engineering followed by attending London Business School to do his MBA. He together with his brothers holds the family owned real estate company Sun Hung Kai Properties.
Early Life of Raymond KwokRaymond was born in year 1952 to Kwong Siu-Hing and Kwok Tak Seng. He is the youngest son of family with two older brothers; Walter and Thomas. For education he attended Cambridge University receiving degree in law and Harvard University to complete his MBA. He also holds Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from Open University of Hong Kong and Honorary Doctorate in Laws from Chinese University of Hong Kong.
CareerBoth brothers; Thomas and Raymond started their career by inheriting their family business which was started by their father Kwok Tak Seng with Fung King-hey and Lee Shau Kee in 1963 through a company named Sun Hung Kai Properties, that turned out to be the largest property developer in Hong Kong. Initially, their father was a grocery wholesaler from Guangdong, China, immigrated to Hong Kong after World War II. The company started by their father got listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1972 further making series of acquisitions for expansion. Some of company’s building works include; 118-floor International Commerce Centre and Hong Kong’s tallest building at 1,588 feet.
In March 2012, the company heads got arrested by Independent Commission against Corruption on bribery charges. Raymond was set free of all charges whereas Thomas received five year prison sentence in 2014 of “conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office”. After the decision Thomas made a resign from the position of chairman and CEO of the company. He appealed the conviction but was dismissed getting him to jail in June 2017. Raymond is also serving as the chairman of SmarTone Telecommunications Holdings Limited and SUNeVisionHoldings Ltd.
