Sofia Vergara landed into the world on July 10, 1972 to her parents Julio Enrique VergaraRobayo and Margarita Vergara de Vergara, her father was a cattle farmer and her mother was a housewife. She was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and raised there only. She has a big family; she lived with five siblings and many cousins. Sofia went to Marymount International School Barranquilla and studied for dentist course in Colombia University. She soon left studies to pursue a career in modeling. Later in year 1998, Sofia along with her family re-located to Miami, Florida.

Sofia Vergara started her career as a model; she appeared in Pepsi commercial and worked as a runaway model in Bogota, Columbia. Her first big break was co-hosting Univision travel show, ‘Fuera de serie’, the show was also seen on American network, which made her a familiar face in United States. Talking about movies, she debuted with 2002 comedy film ‘Big Trouble’ and in 2003 she appeared in movie ‘Chasing Papi’. From 2005, she appeared in movies like ‘Four Brothers’, ‘Meet the Browns’ and ‘Madea Goes to Jail’. She also won nomination for ‘ALMA’ award for ‘Best Actress in Film’.
