Shiv Nadar is a 73 years old well-known Indian businessman and philanthropist. He is worldwide known as the founder and chairman of HCL and Shiv Nadar foundation. HCL is known to be India’s fourth largest sodtware and hardware service provider. Shiv Nadar is also known for his charitable donations, he is famous for backing for education related issues.
Early life
Shiv Nadar was born in a working class family to his parents Sivasubramaniyan and Vamasundari Nadar on July 14, 1945 in Moolaipozhi Village, Tuticorin district, Tamil Nadu, India. Shiv Nadar has attended Town Higher Secondary School, in Kumbakonam and later he joined Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School. He has obtained a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.
Career
After completing his studies, Nadar worked with Walchand Group’s Cooper engineering, which is in Pune. Later on, he stepped back to start his own business, which he opened with some friends. These partners were AjaiChowdhry (Ex-Chairman, HCL Infosystems),
ArjunMalhotra(CEO and Chairman, Headstrong), SubhashArora, YogeshVaidya, S. Raman, MahendraPratap and DS Puri. HCL was founded in year 1976, with only an investment less than 2 lakhs. In year 1980, HCL came into international market. Shiv Nadar is stil the largest shareholder with all management control.
Personal Life
Shiv Nadar is married; he is married to KiranNadar, whom he met at an advertising agency, where she was an employee. They only have a single child, a daughter, named as RoshniNadar, who is right now serving as the CEO and executive director of HCL and she is married to ShikharMalhotra. Shiv Nadar also has a grandson named Armaan.
Shiv Nadar also founded a charitable foundation named Shiv nadir Foundation, his wife mostly manages the foundation and actively donates for social causes.

According to media resources, Shiv Nadar’snet worth is estimated to be $14.5 billion. According to Forbes, he is the sixth richest person of India and is ranked at number 82 in World’s billionaire list.
