Mary says: I am so distressed with President elect Donald and need to have some reassurance that we who are against him and most if not all of what Republican control wants to do can now do to stop them. And please explain to me at what point those that voted for him start to realize that he is far from the president interested in the average person's plight.

Sharon Cisar says: Rachel,
Love your show. Love your investigative reporting. Wondering if anyone is using Mr. Donald Trump's beloved "Mein Kompf" book to track his each and every move? Thus far, he is been so very predictable based on Hitler's book. Hoping someone will check it out.

Additionally, have you personally ever read James Clavell's book, "The Children's Story"? It is a quick 45 minute read, written many years ago that demonstrates just how easily children are able to be brain-washed. Powerful....and relevant to the situation we find ourselves facing since the election! Hope you will take the time to read it, too!

Carol Santos says: Hello Rachel,
I am writing to let you know Donald Trump is still asking folks for donations? I care give for a lady, who by mistake received calls all during the champagne from Donald Trump asking for donations, even though she is a Democrat. As late as today, she received another call, the second since he became President elected asking for donations so we can fix the mess President Obama made and make America great.
She didn't want to be bothered with calls then, and now it's starting all over again. Isn't it illegal for a President elect to solicite money? He is beyond despicable, sadly seems there is no way he can be stopped. I was hoping someone could get the word out about what he is doing.

Thanks,
Carol

Dr. Dan Monahan says: Dr. Maddow,

Let me preface my remarks by stating that my wife and I are fans. As a retired history teacher, I appreciate the references to history, e.g. the recent reference to the 1871 anti-Klan act. However last night, I believe that the Commission of 1876, which was omitted from the program, was an important, bipartisan answer to the problem. It was an answer that was appropriate for the 2000 election.

Thanks and keep the electorate informed.

I don't know how long your show has been on, but I used to always watch CNN and just happened to turn channel MSNBC and I was hooked. I am turning 70 in January and can't believe I never knew about your show until the election came about.
Looking forward every night to see your show. Everyone needs the spirit you have.

Steve Grot says: The book and movie, "Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party", is a really bad fake Hillary history.
It was at least shown in Florida's Hudson, Spring Hill, etc. areas a month or so before the election, leading many otherwise democratic voters to see the DRC as an outgrowth of the KKK and HRC a part of that, who only did anything for money.

This is a completely bogus book/movie claiming to be an accurate history of HRC. Amazon and others are publishing it as an accurate history, instead of a bogus anit-DRC, anti-HRC fake history it really is.

You should review it and expose it on your TRMS for what it is and help get it removed from theaters and publishers like Amazon immediately.

Fake but it has been accepted as reality by many, and had a direct effect on the votes of many here in Florida.

The author and others even posted a Wikipedia entry for this nasty fake HRC history.

This is so bad and so important, please confirm your receipt
of this note. Please.

Mark Clodfelter says: Can a lawsuit be filed demanding the electorial college be declared as unconstitutional under the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment? They can't have it both ways saying everybody is equal under the law but those in the city get less than a full vote. This is tyranny by the rural.

You are so smart and I appreciate that. I love your energy but I am so horrified at how tickled you are that you get to cover the current state of affairs. How nice that having our country implode makes your job so fun, but this isn't fun for most Americans. Can't you find a way to be upbeat without relishing these awful events that have riddled many of us with unprecedented anxiety?

Gloria I Perez says: Hello,
My language is Spanish. My first point is gender and age inequality in politics. Yesterday news in some channel was a man made reference to Nancy Pelosi, a 76 years old, implying she is getting old for the responsibilities and they challenged her position. Finding shows that in Texas, Mr. Hall, 93 years old is not ready for retirement. In the case of forever madam President Hillary Clinton by popular vote on November 2016, was described as this is her last opportunity to run for President. Mr. Bernie Sanders is contemplating running in 2020 with no comments yet.

Second point- The more I hear about the popular election results the more in disbelieve I grow. They are leading us to believe that what happened as evidence by actual popular vote count didn't happened, but that what didn't happened (he didn't have the votes) happened. It is incredible to witness the greatest political presidential scam in modern time history unfolding live, right in front of our own eyes. We meant to elect her not him, his children, and his son-in-law. I can't believe that.

Teresa Neuweg says: I watched your show last night, as I have been for over a year now. Your segment with Chris Hayes hit home when you shook his hand and grabbed onto him like your lifeline to sanity. At that moment, I felt your pain, fear, and anxiety that I have had since the election results. My son is gay, 22, and is on our health insurance. For now, I am terrified because my son was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and Celiac disease 2 months before he turned 18. He has had surgeries, kidney stones, high risk of skin cancer, and Entyvio infusions every 8 weeks at the cost of $13,559.00 for the infusion only. If Obama care is repealed, Hillary isn't the only one who lost. My son Chase lost. I have the right to be frightened for my son's life and I am tired of hearing that Trump will do the right thing. That's precisely what scares me. Trump will do the right thing for Trump. Thank you for letting me share my anxiety. Love your show and others at MSNBC.

For 2 months, now my cousin Michael Pellicci posted a video on Facebook from MSNBC and this anchor woman from (MSNBC) news thinks, Todd Carey likes her. First of all, she doesn't know who Todd Carey is and he has never seen what Todd Carey looks like in person and Todd Carey does not know her and Todd Carey is nobody a guy and he is not her boyfriend. I am sorry but he is not her favorite singer and she is not his fan.

And he does not like her. It's not the truth Todd Carey likes me as Miss Christa Pellicci his first-time fan from Stamford, Connecticut. I am sorry, she cannot get what she wants? She is jealous from Christa.

Rachael I am contacting you with such a heavy heart. I am 65 years old and I have never cried after an election result, that is until the moment I had to face the realization that Donald Trump will be our 45th president. Now I can't stop crying. Believe me I have sat down for months and tried to make sense of this so called election. I guess the bottom line is I'm damn mad! It's that simple! I read today Trumps Cabinet-in-waiting and I had a panic attack! Bannon? How are we going to survive this? I'm at a loss. I have four Grandchildren, is this the best we can give them? I know this message is nothing profound, actually it's even quite simplistic for me. I was so sure come Jan. we would be swearing in the first ever women President! Anyway Rachael, if you can make better sense of this than I can, please do so! Look forward to hearing your words of wisdom! Love your show!

Asking some questions

Posted on Nov 12, 2016 at 03:59 AM

Marty says: Is it possible to have a discussion of the electoral college and what the forefathers had in mind when they vote to elect the president? Was it not to prevent someone who is not mentally fit from being president even when elected? The electoral college has been described as antiquated. Has the electoral college ever voted for someone other than the president elect to be president?

pal tarbetsky says: My fear was a forgotten American after this election:

Millions of Americans will loose health care, millions of Americans will pay more for health care as well as prescription medications and entitlements will be at risk, other programs for the poor are at risk, NATO is at risk as is the relations with other nations can be compromised, trade agreements can be destroyed as well as our economy not to mention a global decline greater than that of 2000. The possibility of war scares me and will become greater than ever especially in the mid east and the relations. We have there as well as with Israel and peace with Palistine. It is said that one gets what they pay for and what I see is those that voted for Mr. Trump for President will pay a great price for doing so as will all Americans especially the poor and disabled those on entitlements as well as those that will loose their jobs when the economy take a nose dive.
We paid a great price and it may have been worse if Obama did not save this economy and millions of jobs. How soon we forget what the past is?

pj says: In reference to the WikiLeaks information against Hillary, my comment is please remind the people that Donald Trump invited China and Vladimir Putin to hack America's systems. Also he has not released his taxes. What is he hiding? What kind of connections investments does he have with Vladimir Putin and other foreign enemies. I want to know. It is my right as an American citizen. He is disloyal to America's economy and endangering America. He actively, to this day, promotes division among Americans, invites hacking America's system, meddling conspiring and espionage from America's foreign enemy powers as well as promotes espionage from them. There is no legal evidence of wrong doing from the Clinton's organization which has helped millions of people. Donald Trump frightens and scares me in an overwhelming manner. I rather vote for Hillary then Donald Trump any day, even with the so called email leaks. At least the chances of her having the "codes" for destroying the world are safer then with crazy Donald Trump. By the way Rachel, I love the Rachel Maddow Show.

This is based on analysis extracted from the impact of voter supression and anti-supression trends, laws, and imminent Constitutional reversals of legislative implements. Also cummulative GIS analysis of racial and economic development in large, industrial populations within Texas. These factors and the inevitable hostile political climate. My model predicted a 61 percent chance of a reversal of past trends, a narrow Democratic win in Texas.

Even to the text about when Kane won the contest they were both running for, his first job on day 1 would be to hire a special prosecutor to put the other person in jail. Wow, the similiarities are darn close. Kane was all for Kane, no one else, he wanted to do everything for others so they would love him. Only he could do it.
On another note, wanted to add that during the second debate, Trump actually scared me when he hovered and came up behind Clinton. He didn't step back to the stool and sit down paced behind her. molly moore says: Hello Rachel,

I am a psychotherapist in Dallas and have been in private practice for over thirty years. I am amazed that no one yet, I have seen on television, nor read in print, has pointed to one of the most obvious conclusions of this dreadful election. Narcissistic personality disorder people cannot handle losing. Their personality structure is built on self-defense mechanisms that react emotionally intensive to any and all criticisms, real or imagined. The desire to strike back and retaliate and inflict pain is an impulse that is difficult to control and manage.
It is highly improbable that Donald Trump will finish this race. The biggest, most historical, conclusion to this debacle, might actually come by his withdrawal and refusal to finish several days before the actual election.
In my professional opinion, it is entirely possible he will stop his campaign abruptly, and declare conspiracy/rigging etc. mere days before the election. I believe he may declare victory for having accomplished what he has done to "awaken the people" and simply refuse to go to election day.

Solora says: Hello Rachel, I was online this afternoon and while watching the news I spotted that the corner of my eye has an old segment with a very young Ivanka sitting on Donald Trump's lap. So I Googled about Ivanka on sitting on Donald Trump's lap. I was shocked at what I saw, please look into this and let me know what you think? No parent in their right mind would do what he did all of Ivanka's life. Google (Ivanka sitting on Donald Trump lap) I don't have a dirty mind, put two and two together. His own daughter, which leads me to believe he sexually molested Ivanka all her life. That is why the kissing, inappropriate touching. Do some research and let me know what you think? No mention of the forgotten daughter Tiff.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that Donald Trump chose the analogy of being in a foxhole with Paul Ryan? Something (being in a Foxhole) that Donald knows nothing about.

Regarding the story what fascism looks like in America. I would also add the corporate ownership of the media to your story. You flood us with stories that you want us to hear and deprive us of most of the real news that is out there. That is fascist.

Looking for article.

My name is Amanda Speiller and I reside in Florida. We were recently faced with a category four hurricane. Hundreds of thousands of our residents have lost power and who knows when they all could have their power restored. The reason for my inquiry is our governor is refusing to extend the date of voter registration. As we know many people who are directly affected by this includes young people and minorities. Perhaps this weekend, had there been power, would have been the only time some of them would have had the time to register. I would love your team to gather the resources, I am unable to and bring this issue to light. Another, yet not so important note that I would like to light on the tone and demeanor to which our governor addressed us. I truly felt he was desperate for a devastating disaster so he could be the hero and gain votes for his election in two years. Look at his transcript compared to the address Obama made. Governor Scott's tone in his address to Florida made me feel as though I was listening to Trump's brother. Thank you for your time.

Rachel, I live in Melbourne, Florida. We are in the midst of preparing for a direct hit from Matthew. My phone rings and my heart stops because my grandchildren are on the road. It is a robo call from the Donald to tell me about the horrors of Hillary. How insensitive was it? No political calls in Florida for the next 48 hours please. Are the so lacking in intelligence that they can not halt robo calls?

If Trump's tax evasion genius makes him the one to revise the tax code, then we should put embezzlers as bank president, addicts in charge of the DEA, gun smugglers in charge the ATF, criminals as police chiefs, jails escapees as prison wardens, corrupt lawyers on the supreme court, rapists to the SVU and assassins as body guards for the president etc.

I know politics is your thing. In this crazy election, you are in your hell days but there are other things happening in this country. The armed men shooting tear gas at the peaceful Indians protesting the pipeline, very worrisome, the abuses of BLM, which are supposed to be watching over our national icons, the wild horses. The autistic boy shot in the backseat of his father's suv. I know, the idiocy of Donald Trump and the fact that he is even allowed to runout is incomprehensibly easy, I get it. But like Flint, the Indians and the horses need you.

Can say awful things and we are told, that is just him. When I heard sniffing, that was my first thought, and I don't use drugs. Dean brought to mind the legit concern.

Just curious, so there is the big hoopla speculating Hillary wired with an earpiece during the debate with Trump. But did anyone noticed, how he was leaning towards his left? Also, his hair, well it was combed behind and on top of his right ear, but appeared to be covering the top of his left ear. Am I being suspicious or has anyone else noticed this? And that weird leaning on his left to hide his ear. I mentioned this at home the night of the debate.

Did Donald Trump's present wife ever provide the news media with the information regarding her modeling days? As for that show she was in the United States legally with Donald's modeling business? Donald said, she would provide evidence proving that all her documents are in order and proper and she would provide them in a couple of weeks following him being asked the question.
I don't remember any reporter mentioning her showing those documents publicly. Did this story turn out to have no legs?

I think that people are missing something very important regarding this election. Republicans want to appeal the Affordable Care Act. As a result, they will get rid of people's ability to get medical insurance because of pre-existing conditions. That is really major. We have to stop it. Also, many young people will no longer be able to stay on their parents insurance until age 26. Listen very carefully to their plan. They don't want the American people to know this.

It appears that most media and journalists have been manipulated by the Trump campaign to provide 24/7 discussion of distractions and free publicity. WC Fields was right. There is no such thing as bad publicity. A suggestion: Provide exposure to a campaign only when they have something substantial to contribute to the political discourse. Just like Pavlov's dogs salivating at the sight of food, the media is anxiously providing exposure to any and all outrageous, distracting statements. One should be able to stop this conditioned reflex. It is sad that journalism has been transformed to imitate the "Jerry Springer Show".

Dear Rachel,

As an avid follower of your program, I would like to share my idea with you. You are the only person I can think of who might promote this.

What the world needs now is 'A TRUMP APOLOGY MOVEMENT'. All the individuals, races, religions, ethnic groups, nationalities, nations, political leaders, and people around the USA and the world who have been insulted, lied about, damaged, and otherwise done wrong by Trump. They must stand up, speak out, come forward and demand public apologies from Donald Trump.

Since we know he never apologies, this will show the world what he is made of.

Sincerely,
Antoine J.

Rachel,
The Donald told Dr.Oz that he felt like a 35 years old man. Those labs look like they belong to a 35 years old too. Maybe one of his sons? The testosterone? 441 in a 70 year old man? Hello Rachel,
How are you? I have a problem, I would like to share with you. I watch alot of the news media out on the campaign trail and everyday I watch how they ask foolish questions to the candidates and not the right question. Rachel, it seem when they are around these candidates especially Donald they are more for the fame as Donald do because I see how hard they are with Hillary Clinton these guys threw the kitchen sink at Clinton when they ask her anything. But when they get a break on television and to interview someone they try to act so tuff, and soft as a fluffy cat. Rachel, I can name them if you want but I assume you know who I am talking about. They just got a break on the television. Let these guys know they were send to do media work and they should show more interest than when they get a chance to be the boss for a little while in front of the TV audiences. Thanks Rachel, I love you and Lawrence O-donnl show I miss when you guys are not on.
Regards

Peter Kieran - the military Veteran you had on as your on 9/9/16 - is amazing and understands the horrible suicide problem for military Vets better than anyone I have heard in quite some time - not to mention, the horrifying decision not to bring every single one of the Afghans that helped this country during the war in Afghanistan. You should try to cover this again before the 9/30/16 deadline that is approaching gets here. Very very worthwhile story that more Americans need to be made aware of. I have a feeling this one will resonate on both sides of the aisle.

How many times has Alex Jones watched and literally absorbed the film "Soylent Green"? His thinking is neither normal nor healthy. Seems like the inmates really are running the asylum and for some reason, the staff have given him an external pass, along with a microphone and Internet access. Where do these people come from and how do we return them to the facilities they belong in?

Just a thought - Have Rachel give the entire history of ISIS beginnings, which I think is that they were part of the Bath regime of Saddam Hussein, they were military people that were fired when a Republican President George W. Bush invaded Iraq based on a lie, and so on. Also from my understanding they could not come to an agreement on keeping forces in Iraq so Obama had to pull out, which was Bush's plan originally. Then end w/ things that Trump &/or Clinton have said regarding Isis & Iraq. Then tell the American people that this is their choice - one candidate that thinks they know more than the "rubble" Generals & feels justified taking control of oil in a sovereign country, which would b a war crime, or Clinton w/whatever u want to say about her. This would clearly show America's choice, a person who actually understands the complexities of this problem or a person who clearly doesn't know ANYTHING about the Middle East. The TRUTH is that this problem was not created by Obama but by Bush invading Iraq that opened this "can of worms".

I am a Democrat from a red state, Idaho. I am particularly discouraged about the lack of continued coverage of Donald Trump's unlawful endeavors: Trump University, not paying his workers, hiring illegal aliens, the foundation activities, etc. It seems that reporters cover Hillary's emails and foundation relationship ad nasem. Why is that? Then I read a Washington Post article that said many reporters are assigned to reports about Hillary Clinton, but only a couple reporters are assigned to cover Trump, so the incidents are only in the media for a day or so. This does not allow for an educated public to get the same facts before the election in the same manner and clearly favors one candidate over another. What can a regular person do about this? I respect the way you investigate stories and present facts that you don't see somewhere else, so I would appreciate any info regarding why all networks don't present investigations equally.
Thank you

Rachel,

I never miss a show!

I immediately realized that Kellyanne Conway had lied when I saw Roger Ailes listed among those who were helping D.T. with his debate preparation. So often these spokespeople exaggerate, deflect and omit facts, however there is no benefit to this dishonest behavior. Apparently she is practiced and proficient at this, so she fits right into the campaign she works for. Being an accomplished liar is likely a basis for employment there. This definitely will reflect on her professionally and personally. shame on her.
I am so happy she has been exposed. Bravo, Rachel!

Just wanted to tell Rachel that one thing about her show is that I always learn from her show. News is part of her show and I do look forward to this, but what I learn related to the news is what you add in the way of new information. Passed along the information about Pres. Lincoln and the Wigs and the Know nothing party. When you talk about the action between the rise of new parties because of the vacuum in place. This clearly made it clear between the rise of ISIS because of the empty spaces between a stable political environment and no political environment.

Why isn't a segment done on Trump's history of success through setting others up with promises that he fully planned to dishonor. It can be clearly shown that his entire campaign has been based on setting up the public with empty promises that can me maneuvered whenever and however it profits him in the future.
