Early life
Phil McGraw was born Philip Calvin McGraw on September 1, 1950, in Vinita, Oklahoma to his parents. He has four siblings, two elder sisters and one younger sister. He was raised along with his siblings in Texas. Phil has completed his education from North High School; during his time at school he was inclined towards football. He got a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa. He then completed his undergraduate studies in 1975 at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. After four years, Phil got Ph.D. in Psychology from University of Texas. He started practicing with his father, who was oil rig equipment supplier & later lived and achieved his dream of becoming psychologist.
Career
Dr. Phil McGraw started his career as a Psychologist, with his father through private practice. He next joined Business woman named Thelma box to create seminars. It proved to be a huge hit and success as it was an experience based training. He later co-founded Courtroom Sciences (CSI) along with Lawyer Gary Dobbs in 1990. CSI was proved to be a profitable joint venture. In 1995 Oprah Winfrey hired Phil’s legal consulting firm for the Amarillo Texas beef Trial. Case was concluded after three years and Winfrey won. She was a lot impressed by Phil. Following this, Phil was invited on her show and became weekly life strategy expert from April 1998.
Phil also published his book “Life Strategies” which was acclaimed as a bestseller. He continued publishing other books, which proved to be best-seller, some of them are “The ultimate weight solution food guide” and “Relationship Rescue”.
His major rose to fame is his own show, ‘Dr. Phil’, After McGaw’s popularity in Oprah Winfrey show as a life strategist; he started his own talk show. “Dr. Phil” was debuted on September 16, 2002, he helped and advice people on regular life problems as a psychologist. His show was declared a massive hit and won several nominations for prestigious award. The show also leads to birth of several spin-offs such as “Doctors” 2008.
Phil also has been appeared on few television shows for small and special appearances, such as ‘Sesame Street’, ‘Hannah Montana’ etc.
Dr. Phil McGraw also has formed a foundation named Dr. Phil Foundation to help raising funds for children suffering from obesity. His foundation also does many philanthropic works.

Phil McGraw got married two times in his life, first he got married Debbie Higgins McCall a cheerleader by profession in 1970. However due to conflicts and compatibility issues they got divorced after three years of togetherness.
McGraw began dating Robin Jo Jameson and the two got married in 1976. The couple together has two children.
