Malcolm Bligh Turnbull is a 64 years old Australian politician, who has served as the 29th Prime Minister of Australia for the period September 15, 2015 to August 24, 2018. He is a leader from Liberal Party of Australia.
Malcolm Turnbull was born on 24th October 1954, in Sydney, Australia to parents Bruce Bligh Turnbull and mother Coral Lansbury. His father worked as a hotel broker and his mother was an actor and writer. His parents divorced, when Malcolm was just nine years old, he was tormented with his parent’s separation and he suffered with asthma. Malcolm was good at academics; he was enrolled to University of Sydney and did major in political science. Malcolm attended Brasenose College, Oxford, on a scholarship and studied Civil Law, finishing a bachelor’s degree in 1980.
Initially after completing his studies, Malcolm Turnbull practiced law and later went on to politics. In year 1993, he was appointed as Republic Advisory Committee’s chairman by Paul Keating and for the following seven years, Malcolm
remained the chairman of the Australian Republican movement. Turnbull retired in 2000 from the post and in 2004, he joined the Australian National Flag Association. During early 2000s, he was promoted to Parliament secretary position, sometime later he was offered the post of Minister of Environment and Water, which Malcolm gladly accepted.
In December 2007, Malcolm held the position in the government as Shadow Treasurer and later, his colleagues elected him as the leader of the opposition Liberal party in 2008, a position which Malcolm accepted and held until December 2009. On 15th September 2015, Malcolm became the 29th Prime Minister of Australia.
Talking about Malcolm Turnbull’s personal and love life, he is married to business woman and politician, Lucy Turnbull; she has served as the mayor of Sydney. The couple tied the sacred lock of wedding in year 1980, and has produced two children, Alex and Daisy. They have also become the proud grandparents of two grandchildren.
