Early lifeLE Plunkett was born on 6th April, 1985 in Nunthrope, North Yorkshire, England as Liam Edward Plunkett to Alan and Marie Plunkett. His mother was a cancer survivor while his father Liam had to battle cancer during when his career of cricket was on high point.
CareerHe started his cricket career by making his first class debut with Durham in 2003 followed by taking 50 wickets in the 2005 season for the first time. This performance helped him grab the chance to perform in Test series against Pakistan in Lahore and hitting a half-century in only his second ODI against the same opposition. Next season came up with his entry in England’s Ashes campaign in Australia but he hit the rock-bottom and got dropped from the set-up. Later he got another chance and got picked up for the Test series against South Africa in 2009-10. He later made a start with Yorkshire making his way back to Test side by scoring his maiden 5-fer in the second Test against Sri Lanka at Headingley. He also went for 39 in the first test against the same opposition at Lord’s. Unfortunately, he remained outside the game following fitness issues. In 2011 and 2012 season he made it in only three Championship matches for Durham and changed his preference to play for Yorkshire where he got 12 matches to play getting 36 wickets thus finally getting the county cap in 2013 which helped him further getting the call for England Test team. In 2014, he played four tests as a shock trooper two each against Sri Lanka and India. In 2018, he got his IPL call and signed for Delhi Daredevils. Recently he got named for the England’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
