Katy Perry’s full/ real name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. She was born in Santa Barbara, California to her parents Mary Christine & Maurice Keith Hudson. She is the middle child as have two siblings, an older sister and younger brother. Her family has faced financial crisis when Katy was young, she was raised religiously and grew up singing church hymns and learned playing guitar in her teenage. She has attended Santa Barbara Christian School and Paradise Valley School. She has keen interest in music from young age, but was not allowed to listen because of her family’s secular beliefs, she listened from her friends. At the age of fifteen she joined ‘Music academy of west’ and learned Italian Opera. She was spotted by rock musicians in Nashville and given training of music.

Katy Perry started her career in 2001; her debut album ‘Katy Hudson’ was unsuccessful. She then travelled to Los Angeles to get break, she recorded few songs and albums but didn’t get much major work to kick start her career as a mainstream singer. She lent her voice in a movie named “The Sisterhood of traveling pants” as playback singer. She did few songs and music videos at that time. In the year 2007, she signed contract with “Capitol Records Company”. She got fame in 2008 for her song ‘I Kissed a girl’, it was appreciated by music listeners and made it to top in music charts.
