We are talking about 58 years old American actress and comedian well known for making performances in various comedy specials on cable TV and for being the winner of two consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for her reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.
She best performs in the observational, blue, black and improvisational genre of comedy on stage taking into account the subjects of popular culture, current events, LGBT community, Catholicism and Irish-American culture.
Kathy was born on 4th November 1960 in Oak Park, Illinois, the United States as Kathleen Mary Griffin to Mary Margaret “Maggie” Griffin and John Patrick Griffin.
Her mother used to work as a cashier for Oak Park Hospital whereas father was a stereo store manager.
She was raised with her four older siblings; Kenny, Joyce, Gary, and John.
For education, she went to St. Bernadine’s Elementary School and then attended Oak Park and River Forest High School to complete her graduation.
She was quite interested in acting and persuaded her parents to move to Los Angles to become an actress at age 18.
She moved towards comedy as her career subject when she attended a show of The Groundlings at the age of 19 and then got enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute to attend the classes with The Groundlings.
In 1985, she became the regular cast of the Groundlings and emerged as one of the most prominent voices in a nascent alternative comedy scene with a free-form confessional style.
She made her appearances in various comedy shows like UnCabaret in the early 1990s.
She moved into another show Hot Cup O’ Talk with friends Margaret Cho and Janeane Garofalo in 1992.
In 1996, she received the offer of Vicki’s role in comedy series Suddenly Susan (1996-2000) and got another platform with the appearance in HBO Comedy Half-Hour and HBO, Hot Cup of Talk.
This was really her time of fame and she went for reality television and opted MTV series, Kathy’s So-Called Reality in 2001.
She then made her journey to two Emmy Awards with My Life on the D-List, a tongue-in-cheek reality series where she documented her life at the fringes of Hollywood.
Also, her six released comedy albums made it to Grammy nominations. She even made as a host with journalist Anderson Cooper for New Year’s Eve broadcast on CNN.
In 2017, she suffered a career setback after getting photographed holding a bloodied mask of U.S. Pres. Donald Trump. In late 2017, she started to Laugh Your Head Off World Tour.
She got married to Matt Moline in 2001 but both got divorced in 2006. She later dated Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founder and Isaiah Mustafa, NFL practice-squad player. According to the recent news, she is dated Randy Bick from 2012 to 2018.
It is estimated to be around $20 million.
