She is a prosecution lawyer and later got appointed as a Judge. She became a known face from her show Judge Judy and earned millions of viewers because of her straight- forward attitude. Judy’s courtroom drama show was first premiered in 1996 and still going strong with 23rd instalment/season, which got on air in September 2018and further extended up to 25th season. Judy Sheindlin is a positive person and very reputed judge. She handles cases of utter abuses and violence with total sensitivity. Judy Sheindlin is 76 years old, was born as Judith Susan Blum on October 21, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York City, United States to Murray Blum & Ethel Silverman. She went to James Madison High School in Brooklyn. She completed her graduation degree of Bachelor in Arts from American University in 1963. She did her law degree from New York Law School in New York City in 1965.She also holds Honorary Doctor of Law degrees from Elizabeth Town College in Pennsylvania.
Career
Judy Sheindlin started her professional career in 1965 by joining a Cosmetic firm and served as a corporate lawyer. She didn’t enjoy her work, felt disinterested and left the job after 2 years and devoted her time in upbringing of her children. In 1972 Sheindlin started working as family lawyer in family court; she was promoted as judge Criminal court in 1982. In 1986, she was designated as Supervising Judge in Manhattan family court.
Because of her Bluntness, honest decision making sense she was able to attract common people. Because of her growing attention in media, she became a known celebrity in no time. She appeared on a hit show “60 Minutes: in 1993, this made her very popular personality of legal world. Judy Sheindlin got retired after serving 25 years in family courtroom and heard more than 20,000 cases. She achieved a milestone after starred in her own host show “Judge Judy” since 1996 and still going strong. Judy Sheindlin married twice in her life. First she got married in 1964 to Ronald Levy a prosecutor, from her first wedlock she has two children Jamie & Adam. Judy & Ronald broke up after 12 years of togetherness with a divorce in 1976.
She later got married to Jerry Sheindin (Former Judge of Supreme Court of New York) in 1977. They are parents to five children and have thirteen grandchildren. In 1990, the couple divorced because of stressful life; soon they remarried the following year, realizing their divorce a mistake.
