John Franklyn Mars was born on October 15, 1935 in Arlington, Virginia. He is the son of Forrest Mars and Audrey Ruth. John Mars is the grandson of Frank C Mars, who is the founder of America’s biggest candy company Mars Incorporated. John Mars was enrolled to Hotchkiss School in Lakeville and later on he went to Yale University. John Mars was inculcated with the habit of respecting ever means of livelihood and survival and was taught to do hard work for everything.
Career
After completing his graduation from Yale University, John started serving in the US Army; he served their for almost 2 years. After that he joined his family business and got his first project to initiate a pet food company in Australia. He was an entry level businessman, which made him running the business a difficulty, but he slowly progressed the business. He surpassed every obstacle, in the business and emerged as winner and major decision maker for the company.
He acquired Ethel M Chocolates, a firm established by his father after handling over Mars to them. This action expanded the operations of their firm and accompanied with some other brilliant decisions moved the company back to its reputable position and lead to further expansion and growth.

John Mars is married to Adrienne Bevis. They married in June 1958, and together have three children named Linda Anne Mars, Michael John Mars and Frank Edward Mars.
