We are talking about 53 years old British novelist, film and television producer and screenwriter well known for writing the series of fantasy novel, Harry Potter, based on the lives of a young wizard, Harry and his friends at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The book made the sold of over 500 million copies with multiple awards and also turned out to be the most popular film franchise in history.
Early life
JK Rowling was born on 31st July, 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England as Joanne Rowling to Peter James Rowling and Anne Rowling. Her father was a Rolls-Royce aircraft engineer whereas mother was a science technician. She was raised in family with her younger sister Dianne. She attended St. Michael’s Primary School, Wyedean School and College for education. Later she completed her graduation earning BA in French and Classics at the University of Exeter in 1986.
Career
She soon started working for Amnesty International in London after completing her graduation. This was the time when she thought for writing the Harry Potter adventures. In early 1990s she travelled to Portugal to teach English but came back to United Kingdom after giving birth to her daughter. In 1997, she published her first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, under pen name JK Rowling. The book became an immediate success due to its vivid description and an imaginative story line. Its succeeding volumes also turned out to be a major success making it available in over 200 countries and in over 60 languages. She released the final volume in 2007. The series also turned out successful in film franchise. She has also written companion volumes, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (2001). Her next critical acclaim came from the co-written story for the play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child that premiered in 2016 winning over nine Olivier Awards. Recently the play received six Tony Awards in 2018. Some of her other works include The Casual Vacancy (2012), The Cuckoo’s Calling (2013), The Silkworm (2014), Career of Evil (2015) and Lethal White (2018).

In 2009, she has received a chevalier of the French Legion of Honour.
Personal Life
She got married twice. Her first marriage was with Jorge Arantes in 1992. The couple has a daughter named Jessica Isabel Rowling Arantes together. They got separated in 1995. She is now married to Neil Murray since 2001. Both have a son named David Gordon Rowling Murray and a daughter named Mackenzie Jean Rowling Murray.
