About JN Malan
JN Malan or Janneman Nieuwoudt Malan is 23 years old South Africa’s right-handed batsman and right-arm leg-break bowler. He plays domestic cricket for Cape Cobras and has recently made his international debut against Pakistan in T20I in February 2019.
Early Life
JN Malan was born on 18th April 1996 in Nelspruit, South Africa as Janneman Nieuwoudt Malan. He is the youngest of all siblings having two more brothers; Pieter and Andre. The other two brothers also play cricket and all have created a cricket history by scoring a hundred on the same day of cricket.
Career
Malan started playing cricket for northwest University in Northers Under 17s and Under 19s. He was also part of South Africa’s Under 19 team. In 2016, he was included in the squad of 2016 Africa T20 Cup for North West. His first-class average is around 55-odd and a List-A average is of 50 plus with a total score of 500 runs in the one-day challenge and 1046 runs in the Sunfoil Three-Day Cup for North West. He also got the CSA Sunfoil Three-Day Cup Cricketer of the Year award at
the CSA Awards which counts as his prolific performance that he got picked up by Cobras for the 2018-19 season. Being with Cape Cobras, he won a hat-trick of trophies including Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and the Cape Cobras Player of the Year.
In September 2018, he appeared in Western Province’s squad for 2018 Africa T20 Cup making 178 runs in four matches. He was also included in the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament playing for Cape Town Blitz’s squad. Recently, he got selected for T20I squad in February 2019 against Pakistan on the place of Quinton de Kock as he got ruled out of injury.
