Early Life
Gordon Ramsay was born on 8th November, 1966 in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland as Gordon James Ramsay Jr. to Gordon James Sr. and Helen. His father worked in different professions like being a welder, a swimming pool manager and a shopkeeper whereas mother used to nurse. He was raised in family with his three more siblings; Diana, Ronnie and Yvonne. The family got shifted to Statford-upon-Avon where he was raised in Bishopton area of the town but later at age 16 left out his family home. He at first preference wants to start his professional sports career in soccer as at age 15 he joined the Glasgow Rangers, a pro club. He spent around three years playing for the team until 1985, when he got a knee injury that prematurely ended up his football career. He returned back to school to complete up his studies and finally got his degree in hotel management in 1987.
Career
Completing his degree in hotel management he moved towards Europe’s top chefs to gain some experience. He apprenticed with Albert Roux at Le Gavroche, Marco Pierre White at Harvey’s in London and also under master chefs Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon in France. His work and experience led him get a job of head chef in the newly opened Aubergine in London in 1993 further earning a two-star rating to restaurant from Michelin. His career rose to prominence after receiving the Newcomer of the Year at the Prestigious Catey Awards in 1995 and afterwards he decided to start his own establishment, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in 1998 in London. The restaurant received a three-star rating from Michelin and Gordon further made several openings all across the world like Savoy Grill, Boxwood Cafe, Maze, Verre and La Noisette.
He at the same time made his debut as television star beginning with his appearances in 1996 as a judge on the BBC competitive cooking show Masterchef. He further worked on documentary miniseries named Boiling Point and its follow-up miniseries, Beyond Boiling Point giving all details of his working life and the opening of his first restaurant.
