About Gihahn Cloete
GL Cloete or Gihahn Love Cloete is 26 years old South Africa’s left-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. He is well known for being a left-hander who keeps wickets. He started his domestic career with Eastern Province followed by his international debut in a T20I match against Zimbabwe in October 2018.
Early Life
GL Cloete was born on 4th October 1992 in Atlantis, Cape Province, South Africa as Gihahn Love Cloete. He was a rugby player in school but use to go out to play mini cricket which boosts out his interest. He played for Free State, Knights, South Africa Under 19s, South Africa A and the Warriors making his First-Class debut and List-A debut in 2009 whereas T20 debut in 2011. He went for 100 First-Class matches scoring with 135 runs at an average of 30.52.
Career
The actual career started with Eastern Province playing for 2015 Africa T20 Cup. For his One-Day Cup, he scored 546 runs and he got picked up for South Africa A team that toured India followed by the senior national team for the T20 series against Zimbabwe in
September 2018. In this year he even played for the Border team in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup followed by making his participation in Mzansi Super League for the first edition as Tshwane Spartans’ squad. The Tshwane Spartans picked him up in round seven for R250, 000. This time he became the leading run chaser scoring 330 runs in ten matches plus shared a partnership of 101 for the first wicket with De Bruyn and then 77 for the second wicket with De Villiers. He has recently played a T20I match against Pakistan in February 2019.
