Gavin Christopher is an American business man and politician. Right now he is serving as the 40th governor of California; he has held the office recently from January 2019. He is a member of Democratic Party and has previously served as the Mayor of San Francisco from years 2004 to 2011.
Early life
Gavin Newsom was born in San Francisco, California on October 10, 1967 to parents Tessa Thomas and William Alfred Newsom III. Five years after Gavin born, his parents lived separated and took divorce in year 1972. He was raised by his mother along with his sister. Talking about his high school education, Newsom has attended Redwood High School and later he was enrolled to Santa Clara University. He has completed his graduation in year 1989 with a B.S degree in political science.
Career
Talking about Gavin Newsom’s professional career in politics, he has held several positions throughout his life. He was first elected as the Mayor of City of San Francisco in year 2004, he held that position up till year 2010, during his tenure he did majority
of reforms and was highly into the welfare of society. Later on in year 2011, he was elected as 49th Lieutenant Governor for the State of California. He remained at that position till 2019. In beginning of 2019, he became the 40th Governor of California. Newsom defeated Republican John H. Cox in the general election on November 6.
Apart from his political career, he has also hosted the ‘The Gavin Newsom Show’ on current TV. He has also written a book in year 2013, titled Citizen Ville.
Personal Life
Gavin Newsom has been married twice in his lifetime. He was first married to Kimberly Guilfoyle, they tied the wedding knot in year 2001, but owing to growing incompatibilities and marital problem, they mutually decided to part ways. The couple separated in year 2006.
Later on, Newsom again tied the sacred knot of marriage with Jennifer Sieber in year 2008; the couple is still going strong and has four children.
