Emmanuel Besnier is a well-known French businessman, Heir and philanthropist. Presently he is serving as the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Lactalis and is also known as the cheese king of France. He has inherited the business from his father.
Early life
Emmanuel Besnier was born in Laval, Mayenne, France on September 18, 1970. His parents are Michel Besnier and Christaine and he also has two siblings Jean Michel and Marie Michel. Emmanuel Besnier is the grandson of Andre Besnier, who founded ‘Lactalis’ in year 1933. Emmanuel Besnier has completed his formal education from a private school of Laval, the Roman Catholic Immaculate Conception. Later he moved to Paris to pursue higher level of education from an institute of management.
Career
Emmanuel Besnier’s grandfather founded ‘Lactalis’ in year 1933 and later his father Michel Besnier took over the charge of company in year 1955.
Later Emmanuel took over the company after his father’s death and turned it into an amalgamation. He increased the variety of products and obtained many
other dairy companies and cheese brands. He created President Label which was a different variety of cheese unlike the French cheese.
Right now Lactalisnow employs 75,000 and owns more than 230 plants in 43 countries.
He has also received the “Mayennais of the Year” award from the local Rotary club in 2006.
Personal Life
Emmanuel Besnier is married to Sandrine, who is a native of Laval. They married in a private ceremony and together have three children in total.
He is also a noted philanthropist, and also donates Euro 2 lakh annually for the football stadium in Laval.
